I have a chickpea, flour, egg, olive oil, ground pork chemical yeast thing cooking right now in the oven in a maybe-not-oven-safe saucepan I really need to eat guys wish me luck
>>
Post pics im curious how it looks. Id suggest taking a bite and waiting a bit to see how you feel. I once used a plastic container to make some noodles in a microwave and my head felt like shit after.

It should be enameled cast iron so presumably oven-safe but I'm not sure. It needs to finish cooking then I'll let it cool and post a pic. Also yum microplastics

Enameled cast iron is oven safe

Why would you do this to yourself

I'm famished and it's been a while since I baked something, and I want to do a good few brioche and breads in the near future, so a bit of practice couldn't hurt. Btw this bitch has been in the oven for nearly 2h and I'm pretty sure the inside is still raw

The beast is born ! Thick crust, VERY moist, hopefully cooked, inside, still quite hot would need to cool a bit. Doesn't look too bad otherwise

It looks like it probably tastes good

Slightly toasty but it looks better than I thought. Hard to tell what exactly im looking at though. Maybe when the sun isn't too bright ill see it better

It does ! It wasn't nearly as dense as I was expecting it to be, just an amalgamation of really fluffy "crumbs". The crust was way too crusty though but aight. Could barely taste the meat, but definitely a more "medieval" dish.

Next one I'm gonna go full flour and get that thick overdevelopped gluten network with lot's of meat and just feast like the heathen kings of old. Can't wait

I found the perfect comparison, it's like a nutraloaf but actually moist and appetizing with a good crust on it. Considering I used like a 3,5:1 chickpeas:flour ratio this result is more than satisfactory.
I still have a lot of batter, will cook the next one better and it should be perfect

Sounds interesting. I do love me chickpea flour and used to make savory pancakes/vegan omelets with them that were pretty good. I've never had nutriloaf though
