Is this actually good? I'm lazy and was thinking about living off it since it's easy to cook, and you could just like slap it on two pieces of bread and make like a sandwich or some shit.
>>

You are going to die
>>
>>21824154
I didn't buy it yet, retard. I was just asking. I know it's imitation mutant meat, but it always looked good when cooked and it's been around for like 80 years or some shit. I've known people who told me they liked it as well, so maybe it just varies from person to person.
>>
>>21824158
If you live off spam, you are going to die
>>
>>21824161
Okay, but why? High sodium content? I'm sure it has no nutritional value, but same can be said for people that live off top ramen.
>>
>>21824162
People living on instant ramen don't live long, either
>>
Spam is delicious. Cut into strips or cubes, pan fried, then throw into a noodle dish. Delish.
You will die if you eat it regularly though
>>
you will die
but if you've accepted that, spam tastes a little funny if you've never had it before, make sure to cut it thin, pan fry it, and probably coat it in a sauce
>>
>>21824163
>>21824164
>>21824169
Okay, but what is with the YOU WILL DIE message. Is it just because it has no nutritional value or something? I'm legit just asking.
>>
>>21824148
Not really, it's really salty and SPAM is too expensive now to justify not just buying real ham or canned ham.
>>
>>21824148
its a good treat but i wouldnt eat it every day
>>
>>21824148
its not a treat more of an everyday food
>>
>>21824148
yes it taste like pork roast when fried or grilled. it's not very good cold.
>>
>>21824148
It's too greasy to eat daily.
>>
>>21824158
>I know it's imitation mutant meat
it's pork, or pork and chicken for the flavored ones..
>>
>>21824162
that anon is being obnoxious. you cannot eat just spam it lack vitamins like C.

it's very rich and salty so you can't eat a lot of it in one sitting. it is fine for a main in a meal
>>
>>21824170
those anons are being stupid you will not die, but if you ate nothing but spam you will lack vitamin C and get scurvy.

spam is not fake meat. it is pork or pork and chicken ground fine the container is filled and it is cooked in the can.

It is a perfectly fine and nutritious food.
>>
>>21824148
its actually kinda expensive now and not a cheap alternative to anything. But it is good on sandwhiches, its just a salty pork that you have to slice up yourself.

>>21824158
its not fake meat at all, its canned pork shoulder.

if you normally eat pork, you should enjoy spam. but since its a canned/preserved meat product, it has a lot of salt in it. so if you cook with it, you dont need to 'season' it. Personally I like to open up a can of it, plop the contents into a new container, and then take some really thin slices off it over the course of a few days to make sandwhiches. any sandwhich that can be made with ham can be made with spam. Just treat it like your own personal rectangle of deli sandwhich meat.
>>
>>21824262
>you will not die
every body dies.
>>
>>21824158
It's just ground pork with a lot of salt.

If you get this from Wal Mart, it tastes identical to regular Spam and is cheaper
>>
>>21824265
Most spam recipes nowadays are actually a mix of mechanically processed chicken and pork shoulder. The chicken is hardly noticeable though.
>>
for me it's the Lidl version
>>
Slice it and brown both sides in a pan. Surprisingly good for what it is
>>
>>21824148
Surprisingly, yes, done right. Don't live off it or just slap it on two pieces of bread, so worthless for your purposes.

the ingredients are right on the fucking front of the can you retards
what the fuck is wrong with you

I like it grilled on wonder bread with velveeta. Makes the all-or-nothing thinkers really twitch.
>>
>>21824538
>pork and ham

So, blended foreskins and anuses.
>>
>>21824148
Ask Hawaiians. They’ve been povertymaxing that shit for decades
>>

Seconding this, name brand Spam has gotten expensive, this is just as good
>>
>>21824546
the good stuff
>>
>>21824148
Of you're going to live off of canned shit why would you exclusively eat one of the most expensive ones? Just buy a bunch of canned fish, beans, bags of dried rice, spam, and anything else you want and you can spend the rest of your life pretending you're living in a bunker or something.
>>
>>21824148
>you could just like slap it on two pieces of bread and make like a sandwich or some shit.

i ate the bacon version which is more fatty, uncooked. it's basically like pate when eaten that way.
pretty good with biscuits and some salt and vinegar.

i also like to marinate it in soya sauce and throw them into ramen.
>>
>>21824162
>I'm sure it has no nutritional value,
you literally need salt and protein to live. i swear you are all a bunch of ESL illegals on this board.
>>
>>21824716
SPAM is literally the OG SPAM. everything else is derivative.
>>
>>21824148
>You should try the classic version

There's only "pork" and no chicken

I prefer mine as musubi with shiso, egg and eel
>>
>>21824316
here we see a wild retard in his natural habitat. the shit post.
>>
>>21825529
one could say the same about you idiot
>>
>>21824265
It's $2.83 per can on fucking Amazon. How is that expensive? My local stores have it for something closer to $6/can.
>>
>>21825573
that's a lot for a hunk of low quality salted meat
>>
>>21825583
No it's not poorfag.
>>
hormel luncheon meat is cheaper but it's not as good, and if I eat too many cans I start to feel unwell

All ham is pork but not all pork is ham.
Ham is a specific cut from the pig's hind leg that has been cured.
>>
>>21824148
overpriced
>>
>>21825586
yes it is autist, and its not even good enough to justify paying it
>>
Corned Beef is superior unless you specifically need that porky flavour. Like in SEA dishes.
>>
>>21824148
Turkey spam is better and healthier.
>>
>>21824148
Boil it low 5 minutes. Sodium Nitrate's nasty stuff in any amount. Then fry it in its own fat. Use a vinegary and/or sweet sauce. Great protein fir bulking.
>>
>>21825573
That beats Walmart. Pretty good. but it's still $2.83/12oz. Pork is like $2/lb if you buy roasts. Bone-in half hams go on sale for less than that. You have to either like spam or need shelf-stable.
>>
I had spam sandwich at a coffee shop and it was extremely awful
I love salty food but spam is *too* salty
>>
>>21824161
If you don't eat spam you are going to die
>>
Can you sous vide Spam?
>>
>>21825900
What can I do with this? I just bought a can
>>
>>21827464
only if u want microplastiks in your french ballz.
>>

Here's the thing - it's got a high sodium content if you get the normal one. Half a can meets your daily sodium MIN intake requirement, a full can meets your MAX sodium intake requirement.

So if you down a full can a day, you have no more room for additional salt. At all. That means no soda, no enhanced beverages, none of that. A half can is pushing it, because salt is in fucking everything.

Good news is a full can is tough to eat, it's a decent amount of meat. You can remove some of the salt by boiling the slices or cubes.

It works really well in stir fry, fried rice, sliced and browned on sandwiches, and of course can be eaten as a ham steak or in eggs.

Great preserved meat to keep in the pantry. Note it's more expensive than raw thanks to preservation, so don't do this to save money. Do this to prep, and eat a can every now and then to keep the supply fresh, and your survival cooking skills trained.

Flavored ones are better IMO.
>>
>>21827513
>Good news is a full can is tough to eat, it's a decent amount of meat.

it's just slightly over 300 grams. i can eat about 200 grams of meat in a meal if it's well seasoned or deepfried.
>>
>>21827489
mix it with chilli sauce and use the mix as a garnish for hotdog bun. simple ass.
