My parents have a habit of "tampering" any leftover food they leave behind (mixing in a napkin, etc) because they're worried that restaurants will reuse the food. Does /ck/ think there's any merit to this?

In my state the food inspectors had to bring bleach with them when going to Chinese buffets because they would take bad food out of the dumpster and put it back on the line once the inspector left so they would pour bleach on it once it was dumped to stop them from doing this.

Restaurants reuse food and the kitchen workers eat the customers leftovers. I was a dishwasher in a few restaurants and I saw the Latinx workers eating leftovers, boxing them up to take home, and putting uneaten bread and uneaten tortilla chips and salsa back to be reused.
