I had that once and of all the LdHs I've had (cubillo, tondonia blanco, gravonia blanco, tondonia rosado, bosconia) I found it the most disappointing, could have been the year. Just seemed thin and nothing but acid. Still haven't had the gravonia or the red tondonia. I gather the red tondonia gran reserva is the "real" LdH.

The Reserva Tondonia is considered the benchmark for the style and price, 50-60 bucks or so
but they really demand some age to start showing fruit, otherwise they're super tight and acidic. 2010 shouldn't be too hard to find and is drinking incredibly right now. They're also often the same price as current vintage (if the shop doesn't just hike prices whenever they want) due to inflation.

Reminded me of a burgundy pinot. Which yeah thin skinned grape in a colder climate not terribly surprising. Acidity, a good amount of mushroom taste, bright fruit, very light body yet still having tannic grip.

So I went and bought J. Lassalle Preference and I think I understand the champagne hype. A lot of apple, some bread, hint of floral, bit of minerality. Acidity was mouth watering but not bracing (I’ve had a lot of lemon juice whites lately). Mouthfeel was almost creamy due to the carbonation. I poured it back and forth from a flute to a regular glass and I think it tasted better from the flute. I don’t think it was confirmation bias placebo because I was expecting to enjoy the regular glass more; I think it is because the flute concentrated the aroma more. Also I expected to enjoy it more at warmer temperatures (since I lean warmer for most whites) but at 55 or so it became way too round, 48 was much nicer. So I kneel to the flute, I kneel to the recommended serving temperature. I don’t think I’m going to become a champagne-head. It was good, and I’m sure if I dropped more money it could be better, but at those prices I’m sticking with burgundy

how'd you get into wine? all i really like are cab savs, syrahs, madeira, and some grigio, mostly for cooking. i can't really discern differences but I usually only buy in the 10-20 buck range anyway, except for the madeira
