Any tips for eating Pho?There is a Viet place near me that I ate once at 10 years ago and was not super impressed, I figured they must be decent if they have stuck around for a decade so I wanna give them another shot?I like spicy food, is pho typically spicy?
are you retarded?
>is pho typically spicy? Not really, however there are spicy varieties that will come pre spiced up and most places are going to have a few.It is also standard for places to have chili oil and something akin to sriracha so you can just slop it up yourself. There's also usually some variety of vinegar that helps bring out the flavorsI really like bean sprouts and herbs and shit so I always get extra

>>21850320I think it depends on what you’re really looking for. If you’re not a thin soup and noodles kind of guy pho may just not be for you! And realistically, they might just make it kinda bland. It’s not like it’s a foolproof dish. A good one takes a lot of time and effort. The best kind imo is when you can get the extremely thin sliced meat raw and cook it in the soup. I use a lot of the Thai basil, and pretty much only eat it on the tail end of a cold or when it’s been cold/wet outside. Maybe add more salt/soy if you try it and don’t like it still?
dont put the hoisin or sriracha or whatever in the bowl, use it for dipping the meats. Basil is a necessity, sprouts if you want them and fish sauce if it needs anythats the saddest bowl of pho I've ever seen, if that's your pic go somewhere else. Also dont get chicken
>>21851949>dont put the hoisin or sriracha or whatever in the bowl, use it for dipping the meats.Sorry, I'm not an indentured zipperhead living in the slums of Hanoi. I'll season my broth with hoisin and cock sauce as I damn well please.
ask for nuoc beo, real ones know
>>21850320if you want spicy look for places that serve bun bo hue, it's a regional style with lots of lemongrass and chili oil, and different chunks of beef. the pork blood may or may not be to your liking but it doesn't flavor the rest of the broth, just leave if it's unpalatable
>>21850320Depends of the type of pho. Most Viet places in the US, and Aus I'm guessing, are mostly southern styles with lots of herbs and so on to add in, and sauces to dip the meat into. If it's a northern place, they don't have any of that, but have a spicy sauce, and a spicy vinegar with chilis and garlic to add if you want.
>>21850320AYO WHERE DA SEASONINGS NIGGA? CHANG REALLY EAT LIKE THIS?
