Wooden utensils for cooking absolutely mog shitty pan scratching metal and microplastic cancer melting utensils so hard it's not even close. Wood is just the best.

agreed for the most part except metal utensils are good if you use stainless steel cookware. doesn't really matter if you scratch them up.

plastic utensils are trash that should never be used.
>>
>>21850903
You aren't supposed to scratch stainless steel pans.
>>
>>21850905
yeah you can, there's nothing wrong with it. scratching on stainless steel is just aesthetic, it doesn't harm you or the pan.
>>
>>21850914
If you scratch through the outer layer of steel and hit aluminum you'll ruin the pan.
And even if it weren't damaging, you still shouldn't do it. I was distraught when I scratched my new stainless steel pan, I felt like throwing it away and buying a new one because it looks like shit after getting scratched.
>>
>>21850916
you're not going to scratch the steel deep enough to expose any aluminum with utensil use. it's a non-issue. you would need to cause serious, heavy duty scratches for that.
if you don't like the look of it, that's one thing. but it's totally safe. and my pans are tools, not a fashion statement. I don't care what they look like. metal utensils are great for scraping up fond. to each their own though.
>>
>>21850922
It gouges more scratches that food gets caught in and sticks to better.
You don't need metal to scrape up fond, just a rigid flat spatula, wood does just fine.
>>
>>21850923
again, you shouldn't be causing deep "gouges" with utensils. they just cause surface scratches with normal use.
and it depends what you're cooking, yes wood utensils will work fine for the most part but metal makes certain things a lot easier to scrape up. it's just personal preference though. if you don't like using it, fine. you're not ruining your pan though, don't spread misinformation.

also the irony of you hating your pan not looking brand new while praising wood utensils isn't lost on me. I love wood but it stains and warps so easily. not really cookware you want to use if you can't handle wear and tear.

>you're not going to scratch the steel deep enough to expose any aluminum with utensil use
First time getting baited, Anon?
>>
>>21850928
Wood won't stain and warp the pan which is the important part.
Also wood is soulful and feels good in the hands and against pots and pans.
>>
>>21850898
I only consider one wooden utensil necessary and that is a nice thick wooden spoon for breaking up ground meat. Somehow nothing else does the job quite so well. Stainless for everything else.
>>
>>21850930
Most stainless steel pans aren't solid steel. They are multi-ply pans, basically layers of different metals with the steel on the outside. Practically paper thin. You'll find that stainless steel is an incredibly soft material.

> Americans can't even spell Aluminium.
> Americans think that Stainless Steel cook-ware somehow has Aluminium in the manufacture.

Wooden utensils are DISPOSABLE. It's disgusting and gross and cringe when people hang on to wooden spoons/spatulas/utensils like they are family heirlooms
>>
>>21850958
Skill issue, you don't know how to properly care for them.
And they are family heirlooms. Wooden spoons are SOVL.
>>
>>21850958
my grandgrandfather was killing turks under vienna with his wooden spatula, I will not throw it out
>>
>>21850967
based
>>
>>21850898
yup
tho I do like the very wide and thin plastic spatulas for flipping pancakes etc.
metal ladles are preferable too
>>
btw, are aluminum pans actually THAT bad?
>>
>>21850898
Wooden utensils also contain toxins
>>
>>21850898
If you cram those you could get a splinter, pass and give me plastic instead.
>>
One small downside; they can't go in the dishwasher.

>microplastic cancer melting utensils

I refuse to cook food with the same material dildos are made out of.
>>
>>21851641
Wood, stone, and metal dildoes exist. You're going to have a rough time cooking without any of that.
>>
>>21851658
Ok.
I refuse to cook food with the same material dragon dildos are made out of.
>>
>>21851709
They come in natural materials now. They're are artisanal dragon dildo craftspeople

That’s just OCD, embrace the Buddhist philosophy that everything you own (apart from your soul) is already gone.

>pan scratching metal
What are your plans made out of?
>>
>>21851279
Only use for those is scraping mixing bowls free of cake batter.
Not for cooking.
