What are some realistic meals I can make in a microwave?
Steamed white rice, veggies, combine with pre-cooked frozen grilled chicken strips. Add some soy sauce and chili oil, maybe some sliced avocado and you've got a nice healthy rice bowl.Honestly there's not a ton of great stuff other than getting creative with microwave ingredients that have already been seared/roasted in other ways, otherwise everything might as well be boiled/steamed due to how a microwave works. Any chance you could get a toaster oven or hot plate? Or even something like an Instapot?
>>21853153ditch the microwave and get a toaster oven instead, you will be able to do so much more
>>21853162No, a microwave is the only thing available atm. Maybe I'll make large portions of rice for a nice break. I appreciate the input. I've seen precooked pasta that's realistically affordable. Apparently you can technically cook a steak, however it's going to be rubbery.
>>21853166Im living outside atm so a microwave is all I have available
>>21853172Cheap Rv living channel is great if you're homeless. Living in a vehicle can not only be survivable but comfortable.
>>21853172if you can get electricity for a m'wave, you can have a t'oven
>>21853167If you’re going to cook a steak in the microwave, maybe slice it up first to prevent the rubber texture. Shorter amount of time to cook as well. You won’t get medium or rare or anything, but that version of steak would be good for adding to microwave rice/veggies. Throw all that in a bowl with bottled sauce and you’re good to go
>>21853187Electricity is no issue. I dont want to carry around electronic devices cause people will steal your shit lol. I could buy an Amazon gift card and buy a battery operated pot but I know that shit will get stolen quickly. Also, thats money that can be spent on food.>>21853183i wont be able to have access to a vehicle, but youtube is a good idea.
>>21853191I didn't think of that, thanks. I've been having sandwiches and simple meals but it's nice to have variety once in a while. Not to mention eating out is expensive as fuck, too.
>>21853193Maybe some camping with Steve then? He's good at finding stealthy urban camping spots.
>>21853216Theres a recreational park close by that should have public grilling spots, but charcoal seems expensive. Is there any other realistic alternatives to use?
>>21853217IDK. Having a vehicle makes things a lot easier, especially in America. I'd look into backpacking meals and food. Not the overpriced dehydrated ones, the shelf stable stuff like nuts, peanut butter, cheese (if eaten soon), fruit, etc. What country are you in?
>>21853217chop some wood and burn it down to charcoal, but mind the bbq grills with needles in them, they leave a nasty aftertaste
>>21853153all meals are realistic thoever.
Haha uh oh, looks like mr. Kitty got into the cheetohs!!Oh wow haha I just noticed his lil paws are covered in cheetoh dust to! That is so funny!!! :-)
>>21853153A frozen burrito?
I've heard you can steam fish in a microwave, but that this will also cause your next 10 meals will also taste like fish. You can definitely do bacon/sausage and eggs. I actually prefer to microwave my bacon now. Works good on guanciale too.A few months back you could nuke up a whole ear of corn.Anything liquid. Soups, broths, and stews. Just remember NO METAL EVER.
>>21853746Im always up to experiment.>>21853815kind of curious to try eggs, cause thats one thing that is ridiculously expensive at restaurants. breakfast.
>>21853153Practically anything if you have the skills with the device.
>crack eggs into a bowl>put a bunch of cheese on it>whip vigorously then close the door and turn on microwave>once its done slop it out onto a piece of toast or something add salt and pepper and a bit of hot saucewa la, the im a mega lazy faggot omelette sandwich thing I have eaten an embarrassing amount of times
>>21853980Me too but without cheese, it's a bit terrifying how you create a sponge of egg with the microwave but it's still egg + whatever at the end of the day
>>21853980>>21854003Is milk really necessary? I've looked this up online and they always add milk. I know it's done with omelets but being a microwave I figured it had to do with retaining moisture since it'll evaporate a lot of moisture.
>>21853167When I was in your position, I ate a lot of pasta. I just microwaved it for a couple minutes longer than the recommended cooking time in a huge ass bowl so it didn't boil over and make a mess. Then I would microwave some jarred bolognese sauce and mix it together. It wasn't great, but it did the job.I mostly just ate that and rice, beans, and salsa.

Take a microwave cooking class at your local community college continuing learning program. It's like a 1 cr hour class so cheap.
