I understand what OP is getting at but he worded it wrong, he should have said "Poor people think Italian food is fancy", which is true in most cases.Italian food is not fancy at all, it's a very simplistic cuisine that just emphasizes ingredients.

>>21881004I deliver food and sometimes I can see the receipt price. the customers aren't necessarily poor because they live in the area nearby the establishment and it's good neighborhoods. but the food is very expensive for some reason. this guy ordered $300 worth of food from an italian spot and it was like 8 styrofoam boxes. based on his property i guess he didn't care how much money he spent, but I am fascinated how some italian spots can get away with this tom foolery. and i've seen it at more than one spot. i've never seen a mexican restaurant do this for example, but perhaps somewhere like los angeles you will see this happen. expensive restaurants are a scam in general, just makes it seem exclusive and you're part of a secret club or some shit.
