>>
>>21881263
Sweet potato fries.

Nothing against sweet potatoes but they make SHIT fries.
>>
>>21881266
Not even called a fry, it's a potato wedge you doof.
>>
>>21881263
Those fat crinkle cut ones
On the opposite side, those floppy shoelace ones (McDonalds)

The idea fry is stiff enough to dip, while not being so big that it is mostly potato. DQ, just as an example. Waffle cut is a good fry, because it exemplifies this with not being so skinny it is floppy and has no potato, and not too thick so as to have too much potato. It is also stiff, perfect for dipping or even scooping. Their primary detriment is they can be too big, or even have too much skin on them resembling those wedges as seen
>>21881266
by this anon. Those are just potatoes. Those are not fries. Judged as a form of potato, they are great. Judged as a fry, they fail. miserably.

TL;DR
Fat crinkle cut
Skinny floppy McDonalds
Wedges

More than the red potato wedges
>>
>>21881263
shoe string otherwise they are all good. crinkle cut is the best, followed by steak, and then mcdonalds.
>>
>>21881318

if you are dipping fries, those are bad fries.

steak fry
>>

crinkle cut is the best fry ever invented.

what if it's just good dip

i dont discriminate towards fries. all fries are good fries

Those super thin julienne cut fries. Just awful.
>>
>>21881303
came here to say this. truth.
>>
>>21881400
I use to go to steak and shake just for these fries.
They’re only good hot, and they get cold fast so i understand why they’re not popular
>>
>>21881336
>steak fry
this
>>
>>21881263
crinkle cut. they are always sad and soggy. even when crispy they retain no structure.
>>
>>21881263

God-tier
>Tater Tots: most scientifically advanced, cripsy outside, fluffy inside, literally perfect
>Waffle: maximizes holding dipping sauces, holes hold extra sauce, and that way maintains good ratio of potato-to-sauce

A-tier
>Steak: wide surface, good for sauces
>Curly: curls can hold extra sauce, but sometimes tight spirals get undercooked

B-tier
>Crinkle: good attempt at holding more sauce, but still a small total surface

C-tier
>Regular cut: can only get a light coating of sauce

D-tier
>Home fries: texture is too different, while it pairs perfectly with cut up hot dogs, it just doesn't go with much else.
>Potato Wedges: often undercooked, and the thickeness of the potato can sometimes throw of the potato-to-sauce ratio

F-tier
>Shoestring/Matchstick: impossible to dip in sauce, you're pretty much just scooping up handfuls like they're crumbs (which they are)

Abomination-tier
>Sweet Potato fries: of any shape
>>
>>21881469
>Sweet Potato fries
I've come to use those things, and Beyond Meat too, as an ad-hoc method of determining how close we are to societal collapse. During covid shortages and panics they managed to sell about a third of their stock (while everything else sold out), which told me things were bad but not so bad that society couldn't recover. I feel it's easier to understand than that retarded 'seconds to midnight' thing those egghead nerds do.
>>
>>21881263
Curly fries. People like them, but curly fries are usually seasoned and I suspect they're conflating seasoned fries and curly fries. Curly fries are the only fries where the shape prevents proper cooking, especially with smaller inner fries.

This could probably be fixed with a cut that uses two 'starts' so the fries don't contact themselves, but i have never seen this.
>>
>>21881343
I think the problem with crinkle cut is hardly no one actually fries them until crispy. When they’re actually crispy crunchy I agree they’re pretty good
>>
ITT: people who are so terrified of hot oil that they can't deep fry any fries
>>21881577
especially you
>>
>>21881400
High ceiling low floor. If you get them fresh they're the best.
>>
>>21881469
>every tier determined by sauce
what the fuck man. just drink a tall glass of that "sauce" already, its the only thing you care about.
The perfect fry stands alone, a dusting of salt is all that's required.
You put sauce on BAD steaks and BAD fries. Since (You) put sauce on fucking everything, everything you've ever had is, by definition, bad.
>>
>>21881263
Crinkle cut but really it just come down to which came out of the fryer most recently. Arbys curly mogs everything though so it's just fighting over second place at best.

Seconds to midnight away from slipping my massive sweet potato into your mothers frying oil receptacle you Fucker.
>>
>>21881400
yes these are the worst
I'm pretty sure its so they can sell less potato to you, for the same price as a normal weighed portion of fries.

funny how I'm actually irritated thinking about being served those fries, because of how many times they've displeased in the past
>>
>>21881469
It sounds like your ideal fry/chip is a bucket of sauce with no potatoes.
>>
crinkle cut is the best fry. perfect crispy texture, ridges at strength, surface area, and stability.

they are the best fry in the world.
>>
>>21881334
I prefer my fries plain, but to ignore the fact that most people dip theirs in something (ketchup, vinegar, gravy) is just arrogant on your part.

>>21881749
I didnt say they were not good dumbass. I said that, when judged as a fry, they fail. When judged as a way of eating potatoes, they are great. Sometimes the people on this site have a Kindergarten reading level, I swear.
>>
>>21881263
that would be a long list as waffle fires are high on the totem pole.
>>
>>21881263
Crinkle cut
>>
>>21882119
nonetheless fuck you for not addressing me as Mr Professor Sir
>>
the best fries ever made are crinkle cut.
>>
French
Curly
Shoestring
Crinkle
Tot
Wedge
Pretty much all of them pale in comparison to the glory of the Waffle.
>>
>>21881400
It used to be crinkle cut for me but now it's these things without question. What is even the point of these things? Might as well just eat potato chips. I refuse to go to Freddys or Steak n Shake or any cheap ass place that sells these
>>
>>21881263
The real truth is it is not the cut that makes the fry good but the place that makes them.
Chic fil a makes a great waffle fry but everywhere else I've had them has sucked.
Culvers makes a great crinkle cut but a lot of other places just suck at making them.
>>
I love every variety of fried potato except tater tots. I've had them all and I love them all. Except tater tots. Even fries from the Arabs who use old stinky oil are better than tater tots.
>>
>>21881263
crinkle cut
>>
the only fry worth eating is crinkle cut all others are shit.
>>
>>21882773
Was going to post this, fuck tots.
>>
>>21882798
based crinkle cut enjoyer
people only hate on crinkle cut because it is associated with frozen bag fries. freshly made ones are god tier
>>
>>21881263
steak fries, or british "chips"
>>
>>21881266
not a fry, but even so, the best wedge will absolutely mog fuck out of the best fry
>>
>>21881400

It's crazy how quickly shoestring fries turn cold.
>>
>>21881469
never seen a post so fucking wrong in my life ever. tater tots are garbage sweet potatoes are god tier crinkle is largely bad unless it's the cheapest shit at some fucktarded stall you've ever bought potato wedges FUCK and curly has a very weird flavor, much like seasoned. ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>
>>21881749
ANOTHER SWEET POTATO BRO. More for us. These PLEBIANS don't understand good taste. Sweet potato fries mog every other form of fry when they're even halfway decent.

Crinkle Cut ordered Extra Crispy is THE premier Cheese Fry-Fry. The Best in that form.

Although I think generally speaking, the McDonald's Fry, medium-thin straight-cut and not quite shoestring, I think that's The GOAT. Not even saying McDick's specifically but that form.
>>
It doesn't matter at all what you use as long as it has garlic parmesan on it.
>>
>>21881649
Fries are meant for sauce. There is no debate about this. Why would you even eat fries without a sauce. Are you poor? I usually have three sometimes four sauces going at any time. We're talking catsup, BBQ, honey mustard, buttermilk ranch, malt vinegar, buffalo sauce. I even fucks with just straight mayo.
>>
>>21881263
fatass crinkle cuts. normal is fine, but they have some that are so big that they take forever to bake right.
>>21881303
most sweet potato fries suck. there is a way to do them right though, and when you have good crunchy sweet potato, it's wonderful. i can totally understand why you don't like them, i didn't for the longest time either, but then i tempura fried my own and they were fantastic
>>
>>21881266
100%. I fucking hate wedges. In fact, I am going to go and put wedges in the 'world meme foods in the last 25 years' thread.
>>
Baked/air fried is worst, shape matters less than cooking method. As long as it's fried there are no bad fries. I don't consider sweet potato fries as fries. Fried green beans aren't fries either so it is consistent.

Stand back , I got this.
>never cooked in fresh oil
>greasy, never crunchy
>difficult to eat, chance of stabbing yourself somewhere sensitive
>can’t dip in sauce
>stupidly expensive
>100% guaranteed to have been prepared by gypsies, felons or drug addicts with HIV, sometimes all the above
>>
damn, does nobody here like to get sweet potato fries just to switch it up occasionally
>>
>>21885220
Kek
>>21881266
Wedges are kino. I'm buying some when I get paid to eat with sour cream.
>>
>>21883199
checked. sweet potato fry haters are fucking retarded, and should be designated as such on their government issued ID
>>
>>21886493
>Buying some when I get paid
You can get a potato, wedge it, bake the weggies and have perfectly good tato wedges. What do you mean about buying some when you get paid? A potato is a dollar or less.
>>
>>21886508
I have $0.74 in my account and I want the pre-prepared ones you get frozen in a bag and just bang onto an oven tray
>>
>>21886560
>I want the pre-prepared ones you get frozen in a bag and just bang onto an oven tray
That's why you're poor. Figure it out dood.
>>
>>21886493
>I'm buying some potato wedges when I get paid
Something is horribly wrong with how you're living life
>>
>>21886508
>>21886560
Potato wedges are fried. Roasted potatoes are completely different in both taste and texture
>>
>>21886575
Frozen oven wedges are partly pre-fried before being frozen so they come out of the oven nicely.

I don't have access to a deep frier and chunks of baked potato are not what I'm looking for.

Otherwise yup I would totally make them from scratch.
>>
>>21886577
I'm on neetbux with schizophrenia so yes the struggle is real.
>>
>>21881263
Fries are just a utensil for eating ketchup, and waffle fries hold a ton of ketchup.

I like these hot or cold, fuck the haters. Have some steppegrass if you're ever in flanders, anons. holy shit its like crack
>>
>>21881263
I would take those over the sysco “battered” fries. Flavorless shoestring fries are also pretty terrible. I usually see waffle fries being over salted but never under seasoned. Their really are worse fries

I think sweet potato fries served with chipotle mayo mogs everything else, but without the chipotle mayo it's kinda mid.
>>
I'm absolutely baffled at the amount of people in this thread saying crinkle cut are the best. In my experience they're usually too thick making the center doughy. A good fry should be crisp on the outside and light and airy in the middle. That's why most common fast food joints use straight cut, it's the easiest way to achieve this.
