When I was a rice snob it was all about brown jasmine or brown basmati. They are noticeably superior to American long grain except for the price. Now I don't give a fuck and just buy plain old white American long grain.

>>21884906Depends what I'm making, but for a GP rice I use picrel. I also keep 20lbs of Nishiki sushi rice. Super multi-purpose. Short grain, extra starchy. Makes better risotto than arborio. Sushi as well of course. Rice balls/onigiri too. Those are my two main go-tos for rice.

almost a decade ago i purchased a bag of spanish bomba rice at what i considered an exorbitant price (9 euros/kilo). possibly the most satisfying grains i've ever had, it was almost like couscous. but i never repeated the purchase. the price seems to be double that now.
