What are your portion sizes like in your country?

I'm sick of this. Pic related is the size of a kebab in the UK. The width on the open container is literally barely over the size of the American equivalent

It's not clear...is your complaint a portion that is cheap and not satisfying, or are you comparing the US to being the same as UK, and generous or cheap and unsatisfying?

"Kebab" in the US is always a ripoff. This is going to be inferior to a good shawarma or greek restaurant, fact. A bunch of cheap lettuce, boxed yellow rice, and mayo dressing is not a meal. I'll take gyros that have porkfat with my lamb, and delicious yogurt and cucumber rich tzatziki. Or else, I want zhoug, and actual real grilled chunks of meat of my choice, pickled onions and other relishes.

So glad I live in Australia, the kebab places I go to always LOAD everything I order in a mountain of meat.

This is nothing to do with quality and it's nothing to do with Kebabs.
Sometimes I just get two portions when eating out but what really takes the fucking piss is that these kids portions are expensive too, probably way more expensive than most in other countries so you end up paying a crazy amount of money only to get less. I've started to just not bother. I can't give away hard earned cash just to have to have something extra to afterwards, to line the pockets of some immigrant

I would've thought it would be the same as here since the culture is pretty much the same. We do get the odd generous establishment that managed to not follow the trends in this day and age I have to take my hat off to. And fish and chips is always a winner, god damn classic but I eat that rarely.

Show us a snap of your favourite Aussie restaurant

WTF are you complaining about?

Most of the Kebabs here in the UK are pretty good but it's like anywhere on the planet . . .you get rip-off stuff too.

A kebab shop near me does REALLY good burgers too but like most Turks (and Greeks) they can't do salads.

I'm happy with a leaf or two of lettuce and a slice of tomato but Oh NO . . . .. .they pile on shedloads of shredded lettuce and tomato halves or quarters, it's generous but kind of ruins it.

I saw a stat that overwhelming, the most money spent on prescriptions are the weight loss drugs. These people are full within 5-6 bites, so they are literally full with half a burger. This is going to be a problem if you're not willing to pick up and take leftovers home, because you are not going straight home or on vacay. The kids menu and other prices for small portions is going to get worse, in other words.

If not being satisfied and wanting planned leftovers are your problem, you just need to support businesses that do what you prefer. In the US, fritangas and most hispanic, jamaican, food places have regulars that do takeout and expect huge portions filling their containers. Italian is hit or miss. The right chinese takeout understands that. Shop where repeat business matters, not in touristy spots. I value quality over quantity, myself.

It's really really bad. I've stopped going to grocery stores because all the ready made frozen trays of food are tiny as hell. Now I only go to Costco and their frozen trays are just the right size for a proper meal. Sometimes I'll still go to gricery stores for variety but individually microwaving or baking 4 or 5 plastic trays just seems wasteful and tedious. I wish they would be more green and make larger trays and reduce the plastic and price some.

I do. I live near the best Thai in London but I've literally stopped going there since they almost halved their portions. It's a shame because it's actually amazing. I can't live off fish and chips though, proper Turkish restaurants are always generous too, I visit them more than anything. maybe it's good that I eat out less now

Also fuck those people. A pill for everything, why not be a real human being. That's shit is disgusting, I'm sure all this weird stuff isn't doing you any good

>company does not provide a service at a value you find reasonable
simply stop providing them business
>>
>>21887278
Are you saying that portion there wouldn't fill you up?
>>
>>21887278
the gyro place near me (southwest US) makes gyro plates that would feed 2 to 3 people. I usually get 3 meals from it. very generous with the meat. WAY too much rice.

A General Rule in America is the poorer the neighborhood the larger the portion sizes, the richer the neighborhood, the smaller the portion sizes.
Neighborhoods with a lot of nightlife typically lean into larger portion sizes while neighborhoods that are relatively quiet after 10 have more haute restaurants with higher quality ingredients, but smaller portion sizes.
>>

You sound like you are American?
Yet - you haven't a clue what you are talking about (no surprises there).

I have been to the USA on a number of occasions an whilst it's true portion sizes are generally larger than in Europe, there is no real difference in quality from Hicksville Missouri to NYC . . .it's just the price.

Food quality is lower than in Europe but I can't deny portion sizes are higher.

NYC isn't some broad thing where everyone's rich and all the neighborhoods are the same, you go to a ghetto chinese restaurant adjacent to some NYCHA houses and you're getting a bigger serving of Chow Mein than you are at the place that's getting talked about in culture blogs. that being said they're gonna taste very different even if in essence they're the same ingredients
>>
>>21887586
A lot of wealthy people eat solely for please a lot of the time, and people with less money don't like being scammed out of the little they have, so not a surprise

>>21887648
Expensive isn't always better, this guy (or gal) knows it
