Were air fryers worth the hype?
I believe they got popular because most people have an oversized oven, that takes forever to heat up because all the volume, and they never use the full size of it
Are we going to have an actual discussion on this, or are you just going to post shitjaks every time someone says something positive about air fryers?
>>21887293your oven is already an air fryer, and more importantly: you shouldn't want to eat fried food all of the time. the desire alone should be a signal that your life has to change
>>21887295>shitjaksOP wasn't a shitjakPic related
>>21887294I had a mini-oven and avoided buying an air fryer because of that but I eventually caved in and bought an air fryer and I'm really satisfied with it. Saving two or three minutes each time is a nice QoL improvement and the convection works better. It's cheap as shit anyway. So actually yeah, worth the hype. Surprisingly.
>>21887293my airfryer isn’t like all the ones I’ve seen online, the bowl with a handle on it. mine’s basically a toaster oven with a few different cooking settings to choose from. I use it a lot and I’d say it’s worth it. some things that would take like 30-40 minutes to cook in the oven take 10-15 in the “airfryer”.
>>21887293is that philip on the right
They do what they're supposed to do, they're relatively cheap, don't take up much space, and cook enough food for a single person or reheat leftovers/fast food slop. They're pretty much perfect for the dorm/apartment dwelling college kid demographic they're aimed at and that you are way too old to be going out of your way to get mad at unc.
>uhhh a car? I already have a donkey cart. Same thing!
>>21887516Explain the unique features of the air fryer, s’il vous plaît.
>>21887521It constantly heats up new air and ejects moisture out the back, also the strong air current inside allows it to brown food from all sides simultaneously (this is only true of higher end models).
>>21887521It BLASTS SUPER-HOT AIR AT INCREDIBLE SPEEDS IN A SMALL CHAMBER
>>21887516Cirno didn't deserve that one, she's mostly right there. Air fryer cultists need to keep her out of their arguments.
>>21887293They're overrated. I prefer cooking the traditional pan and stove. No coils either. I hate the coils.
>>21887294I had a medium sized convection oven which broke and got replaced with a larger one which was way worse. After I bought a just a small convection oven I never used the bigger one again unless something wouldn't fit in the just a small one.
>>21887293yeah they are pretty functional, don't have to wait for my oven to heat up and cooks stuff faster.
>>21888108Be honest, your landlord didn’t supply you with a kitchen but a bunsen burner.
>>21887353These are the good ones. Mine has 3 racks. I can cook meat/veg/and potatoes all at once. It's based. I made a meatloaf in a little cast iron skillet the other night. The only time I ever used the drawer one was at work, and we mostly used it to reheat pastry and shit to have with coffee since they'd always be getting boxes of Danish or pastry and shit
>>21888135Now I miss that job, I was alone most of the day aside and just made coffee and smoked cigarettes and ate free warm crispy raspberry filled pastry all day.
>>21887293no.
>>21887293They arent magic but handy for doing small batches of things. And a pain in the ass to clean.
>>21887293did anyone cook an entire chicken + fries?
>>21887299There is nothing wrong with eating fried food. Deep frying food in oil and breading is what you need to avoid.
well, now that the dust has settled...
>>21887299Ovens are not air fryers unless they explicitly come with an air frying function built in. Most do not have it. Table top combo devices typically do have oven and air fryer features. Ovens use convection to heat from elements at the bottom. Air fryers use a heating element at the top with a high speed blower to circulate hot dry air continuously. Ovens only run a SMALL fan to dump excess heat for temp control. This does not emulate air frying nor was it intended to. >>21887293If you cook ANYTHING that is fried, it is a god send to re-crisp fried food. It also roasts veg really well, way better than the oven. Would not use for baking though, it sucks doing that. Counter space hog too. Get a combo one to space save is my recommendation.
>>21887293Never saw the need for one, since my oven has a fan, and I already have a bunch of stupid appliances taking space around the kitchen.
Do YOU preheat?
>Are we going to have an actual discussion on this, or are you just going to post shitjaks every time someone says something positive about air fryers?
>shitjak poster having a melty
>>shitjak poster having a melty
Everyone who has posted in this thread (itt) should be ashamed of themselves, including me.
>>21888291You should try a whole turkey heh
an air fryer is just a small shitty plastic convection oven it cooks faster because its tiny but it also cooks less volume because its tiny therefore it is the perfect kitchen gadget for incels
Air Fryers are the best way to get your daily dose of microplastics and Teflon.
Basically a tiny oven, good for cooking a small batch of something so you don't "waste" power turning on the actual oven.
>>21887293I wish I could get an air fryer without the non stick crapAs it is I like them. And if you have a sufficiently large countertop and the convection oven takes too long to heat up I think it's worth having one.If you live in a shitty bachelor studio, it's pretty compact compared to an actual oven and I doubt you'll be doing much baking or pastry-making so I'd place it solidly in 4th place in the hierarchy of tiny kitchen appliances behind induction cooktop, microwave, and the electric hot water kettle (in that order)
>>21887521Air fryers suck hot air through the food instead of blowing hot air down on the food. Its a seemingly minor difference but it results in a much more uniform browning/crisping of the foodstuffs
>>21889016what is it like being an actual retard
>>21887318the problem is convection ovens don't have a high powered fan or an optimized circulation path for airflow. basically convection oven designers got lazy for decades and air fryers capitalized on their inefficiency.
>>21887293I don't own one, but the fact that a soijak is the only argument against air fryers I've seen so far, convinced me they're good.
Grow some fucking balls and deep fry that shit
