Hey guys, I invented a recipe called kiwi sauce. It's marinara sauce but you use 4 tomatoes and 2 kiwis. Cook them down until a sauce. The kiwis broaden and add complexity to the flavor on both ends. They have a tangy fruity element that's similar to cherry tomatoes, and a sugary element which caramelizes to make a rich and deep flavor, and they also add a tropical twist. Altogether it's really the next generation of tomato sauce which is worth starting a whole thread just to share. I've googled "kiwi tomato sauce" but apparently this is what New Zealanders call ketchup so if anyone has invented my recipe it's not possible to find. As far as I know, I'm the only person to ever do this.
>>21895026>kiwi tomato saucei laughed.
>>21895026>kiwi tomato sauceWell played sir
show us more please
>>21895026Finally a good thread on /ck/
>>21895033>>21895030The idea doesn't come from the pun. I actually came up with it because the kiwis and tomatoes were sitting next to each other on the table for a few days and I kept thinking to myself how they were the same size and shape. Eventually it dawned on me that the kiwis would be good in a sauce.
>>21895040If you like it op, then fuck the haters
>>21895026>>21895040I recently came into more tomatoes and kiwis than I expected. Might try this.
I'll keep posting updates but it will be a while until it does anything. Eventually it will just cook down until it's completely homogenous.
Monitoring, skeptical but intrigued
Interesting. In Sri Lanka they make a kiwi fruit curry with tomatoes and coconut milk. I've never tasted it but I bet it's amazing. Especially with grilled chicken
>>21895030>>21895033I don't get it
Starting to homogenate
>>21895087That looks like shit
>>21895026Congratulations. You are going to be rich.Based on the search results, your kiwi marinara sauce recipe appears to be original in its specific formulation of 4 tomatoes and 2 kiwis cooked down into a marinara-style sauce. While there are existing recipes that use kiwi in sauces—such as kiwi hot sauce, fermented kiwi jalapeño sauce, kiwi salsa with tomatoes and peppers, and even a kiwi-based pizza/pasta sauce—none match your exact combination or method of creating a marinara-style sauce using equal emphasis on tomato and kiwi. One recipe from Cook Quick uses 3 kiwis with herbs and spices as a tomato substitute, but it’s not blended with tomatoes. Another from Munchyesta combines kiwi, peppers, and cherry tomatoes in a raw salsa, not a cooked sauce. The Chilli Kiwi Hot Sauce is vinegar-based and spicy, not a savory marinara. Your concept of using kiwi to broaden and add complexity to a traditional marinara is innovative and not documented in current recipes.

Can you taste the kiwi? Does it blend or contrast with tomato? Does it have tartness to it? What seasonings did you use?

>>21895026kiwi shares a lot of flavor composition similarity to grapes, this seems like a way of getting somewhat similar complexity to those who substitute grape juice for wine in non-alcoholic cooking, lacking the fermented qualities and acidity, but i could nonetheless see the extra sweetness and more "clean" flavor portfolio working, and it should caramelize nicely as you noteobviously that itself (the grape juice bit) gets a lot of criticism, but the more i think about it the less absurd this seemsi'm going to pick up some kiwi's when i walk to the library in a couple hours and reproduce this to see if this isn't insane. will followup itt in like 3-4 hoursif anyone has suggestions trials/variations and/or what to put it on reply in the next 1.5 hours and i'll try to do it, local grocer only sells kiwis by the box so i can make a few batches + a control
>>21895026Why not just use cherry tomatoes then?

>>21895026Every great genius has a touch of madness, I'm intrigued OP. A thread like this reminds me of when an anon on /prog/ invented sleepsort.>>21895923New Zealanders are also called "kiwis".
>>21895163You should roughly chop the toms and wis, bring to a gently simmer until everything softens and then pass through a sieve to remove all skins and seeds. It will improve the texture of your sauce.
>>21896577>toms and wisWhat you said to do is correct but you're still a faggot
OP here, glad to see my thread is still alive and I've inspired others. It tastes good with golden kiwis too. I've been eating this recipe frequently with a variety of subtle changes. I think the best way is to keep it simple by toasting some garlic in the pan first then adding the fruit. But it can also go good with a whole onion.
>>21895251the only thing shes missing is me fucking her brains out in the last panel
>>21896507>sleepsortgonna have to try that out in C and compare it to quicksort
You could probably use this sauce as a marinade too.The actinidin enzymes in kiwi fruit that are used to tenderize meats, but they are broken down by heat. So maybe you'd have to marinate in the raw sauce first and then cook it all together
>>21895048Why would you cum into tomatoes and kiwis and then decide to try this?
