what's the 'sensus on plant-based milks?
>>
love them ,made oat milk pancakes this morning.
>>
oat milk fucking sucks otherwise they're pretty good
>>
>>21919021
Terrible as milk substitute. Won't recommend them at all
Besides that almond milk on its own can be a pretty good ingredient to add to a milkshake. Coconut milk is also great to have on its own, preferably lightly sweetened or in desserts
>>
i only like almond milk cause i like the taste of almonds
>>
lactose free milk is miles better, get it when/where it's cheaper
>>
if cows ever become extinct I might try it
>>
When I had to avoid dairy I thought nutpods were the best brand. Cashew milk had the best viscosity, coconut milk was second.
>>
nut milks in particular taste weirdly salty

many plant milks have added sunflower or canola oil for no reason

gums and gelling agents are indigestible, causing bloating and discomfort if more than 2 cups of milk are consumed

even with gelling agents, fatty plant milks will separate into oil with the slightest heat

the added synthetic vitamins are either toxic or prevent proper absorption of varied forms of the same vitamin from other foods in the diet

"natural flavors" are a semitic conspiracy

too much added sugar in most. unsweetened versions exist, but milk should be somewhat sweet, so they should really just put a more reasonable amount of sweetness, perhaps with a small amount of glucose instead of sucrose

so the good ones are soy and grain milks with no vitamins, no gums, no "flavors", no oil, and only light sugar

I was pissed about how all the nut milks had carregenan or whatever
Just put "shake bottle" on the carton, wtf?
>>
>>21919021
thats not a big arch
>>
>>21919210
just drink real milk faggot
>>
>>21919021
Oat is goat
Soy’s for goys
Almond is low demand
>>
>>21919021
Coconut is alright for cocktails and delicious thai or indian recipes that require it. S'alright for boba tea. Oat is horrible and tastes like cardboard, not cereal. Almond is barely good and a good way to slowly develop a nut allergy.

The rest are bleh and only meant for the lactose intolerant to survive their lives without delicious dairy.

Shaking doesn't help without an emulsifier.
Ever had some water with an oil phase swimming on top? You can shake until your muscles decompose from lactic acid, you won't get a milk.
Real milk comes with them included, for plant substitutes you have to add some.
>>
>>21919208
I never realized how bad all of those oils and emulsifiers fucked with my gut until avoid them for a while and then tried unsweetened almond milk again. There was a bloated feeling I had not felt for a while.
>>
>>21919021
You will never be a real milk
>>
not milk
>>
>>21919021
Based
More nutritious than actual milk while having less calories, saturated fat, sugar, cholesterol, and a longer shelf life.
>>
>>21919021
Carbon AIDS, glyphosphate swill (and principle water hog cartel in California, for that one greatest ally, regarding almonds). They're novelties that shouldn't be in mass production and wouldn't but for insane subsidies developed for World and Cold Wars decades past their intended and justified existence.
>>
>>21919050
Can you taste the almonds in almond milk? It always tastes bland to me.
>>
>>21921959
>More nutritious than actual milk
Wrong.

>it's watery and that's good!
Wrong.
>>
>>21922293
Wrong.
>>
Coconut is good. Almond is functional in things like smoothies. Fuck the rest though, esp soy.
>>
>>21922334
Wrong.
>>
why do americans fall for dairy industry propaganda so easily?
>>
>>21922405
americans mostly have heritage from places in europe that had cultures heavily revolving around dairy for thousands of years. ironically, thinking that people only feel this way about dairy now because of dairy industry propaganda is probably vegan propaganda.
>>
>>21922016
if we stopped subsidizing corn for literally no reason we wouldn't have to worry about crop related water shortages. everyone loves to talk about welfare queens but farmers are the biggest welfare queens in the country.
>>
>>21919021
It surprised me to learn that almond milk was invented in the Middle Ages, often used by Catholics on the lean days. Soy milk is even older. (it’s a prerequisite step in making tofu)
>>
>>21922476
Not milk.
>>
>>21922540
knot milk
>>
>>21919021
oat milk is a great upgrade from the supreme slave food, oats. take all the oats that are ought to "expire", blend them up with a bunch of chemicals to keep it seperated and sell to retarded goys thinking that natural products are for some reason bad for you
its retarded and tastes bad and will give you diabetis. all the fiber is gone, extremely high glycemic index, on top of being a repurposed slave waste product
and im the biggest milk hater on ck
>>
>>21919021
i bought almond milk to make orgeat, poured myself a glass to try it out because i don't mind oat milk and i like almonds
idk what it is about it but almost triggers my gag reflex, makes me queezy. something is off. i think i could handle a splash of it in coffee or a cocktail but actually consuming a glass of it was almost too much for me
>>
>>21922476
>almond milk was invented in the Middle Ages
hazelnut milk is also ~800y old
invented in Italy as "latte di nocciole"

planet oat is good.

every soy milk ive ever had has been "fine" and then turned into an awful sludge a day after opening it.

almond breeze banana is okay.
>>
I guess I look like a malnourished vegan. I just got in from picking up my wife from work and making a quick grocery run (cabbage, corned beef, potatoes for St Paddy's as well as bananas, chilies, oranges and Fuji apples) and some lady asked me which of those two specific ones (also Silk) was better. I was "buying" VioLife vanilla coffee creamer because it was free in the app through today. I otherwise never go into the vegan "milk" section of the dairy case. Even my lactose intolerant wife won't touch the stuff. She either drinks Lactaid or takes lactase tablets but if it's for free, it's for me.
>>21919045
My brother and his wife are vegan and use oat milk in coffee only. I think they prefer pea milk for general consumption, currently. They keep switching which alternamilk they use as their general go-to but oat is omnipresent for their coffee. >>21922237
I didn't taste any almond when I've had it. >>21922476
>>21922721
I think almond milk is ours, too. Barley milk, as well, iinm.
>>
I don't think knights, nobles, and men of the cloth consumed ye melk of almond mostly made of water, sunflower oil, and emulsifiers. Almond Breeze and Silk do not taste like almons.
>>
>>21923358
I’m a smoker and still they have a distinct almond taste to me
