>>21919632Intent and effort matter, a salad is something that is mainly assembled relatively quickly, not so much cooked, although the ingredients themselves might be cooked.From there, it depends on what salad means to you. For me, salad is linked with salt, sour and fat. When you add two or more of these it starts to move into salad territory. The proportions are important, however, too much sour and it starts to become a pickle, too much fat and it is more like a spread. That being said, fruit salad is something I would consider separate, even though it is assembled in a salad like manner. This is my interpretation and not so much culinary canon.
