Why did America turn its back on rum raisin? Rum raisin used to be very popular, and now there is only one major brand (Haagen-Dazs) that carries it. Locally, there is only one independent ice cream shop out of several that makes it, the rest do not. It's a very delicious flavor. What happened to cause the decline of rum raisin?

>>21921518When I was 7 years old, in 1978, Dad brought home rum raisin ice cream. We all tried it, but no one could finish it. It was literally the only ice cream that's been in a freezer in the same house as me in my entire lifetime to not get eaten. It was shit 48 years ago, and it's shit now. That's what happened to rum raisin ice cream.
Not even trolling I find it very difficult to imagine how somebody wouldn't enjoy rum raisin. It's sweet cream and rich rum sweet boozy raisin flavor... it's absolutely delicious. How could a person not like it
Probably because it requires decent not harsh rum and quality raisins to make a flavor most won't give a chance.You have to consistently source quality for mediocre sales.Or you could just toss the latest popular candy bar in frozen dairy desert and outsell it to children.

NPCs gobble waxy fake chocolate chips in their shitty mint chocolate chip ice cream in the summer and think peppermint stick, the most refreshing hot weather ice cream ever, is a Christmas-only flavor. Whatever happened to butter brickle? Maple walnut? Even butter pecan is getting rarer. Fruit flavors other than strawberry? And every time I get pistachio I'm grateful the dubai chocolate trend didn't ruin pistachio ice cream with a fudge swirl or whatever.
