I MISS CAKE IMAGES ON THE GENERAL GUYS WHATS HAPPENING
>>21925277Sorry anon, I own infinitely more cakes than cameras.
Weed isn't food, OP
I’ve been drinking “Taiwan high mountain green tea” which is actually oolong, and it’s the best tea I’ve ever had, then I tried some Long Jing and it was not my favorite, seemed very week in comparison due to the colder water. How do you brew this better?
>>21925688I put a pinch of long jing in a big mug, just off the boil water on it
Red loom from white2tea smells like kombu. How weird.
My KTM haul finally arrived! :D And right before I was going to brew my early afternoon cup with ancient leftovers.First item to get brewed is a taiwan black, 2025 Ri Yue Tan (also labelled "TTES No.8" for some reason). Tastes like lychee, like exactly like lychee. I even overbrewed it so there's a hint of bitterness which is exactly how the seed inside the lychee can slightly affect the flesh directly touching it. It's literally liquid lychee.
>>21925815you got a sick dirt bike? neat
>2003 Tong Qing Hao (TQH) Dragon & Horse Ripe Tea CakeI was the anon who got it from Haysalontea and asked about factory and brand. After the first drink iv said that it just resembled a XiaGuan but oh god, after letting it sit for a week on the cabinet - getting some boveda ass - i can assure you that this one hits good. There is a HK storage indeed on the middle, and it feels almost like a good wine - it isnt as strong as Yee On Tea but i can see thats its more about the ´´style´´ of storage than lacking the HK storage itself. I wish i could remember the proper notes to describe here but im writing more to update you about Haysolon. It is worth.
>liquid>infused solid>transformed drinkthis is a tea
>>21925940I feel like buying aniseed liquor would be simpler but you do you
>>21925940No with tea you remove the solid again after the infusion. What you posted is matcha.
>>21925940vodker med peber :D
>>21925987clueless foreigner here, the idea of a licorice candy being salted with ammonium chloride is bonkers to me, what does it taste like?
>>21925940>>infused solidIs that solid Camellia Sinensis plant material? If so, you are correct. If not, then what you have is a tisane>>21925978Matcha is a type of tea
>>21925940This reminds me I still have a Fa Zhan He tincture sitting in my kitchen cabinet. I don't know what to do with it.
>>21925940Wonder if making a tea "liquor" would be good
>>21925989it's absolutely disgusting if you weren't raised with itvery strong, pungent flavor
>>21926007>it's absolutely disgusting if you weren't raised with itIt's not. We had ordinary liqourice sweets and sticky lice growing up here in Britain, but not that, and I ordered some of the strongest salmiac liqourice and everyone really liked it.
>>21925989>what does it taste like?like liquorice candy and ammonium chloridethe salmiak doesnt change the overall flavour of the liquoricereminds me i've got some in my backpack, which is nice because i dont have any cash to spend on candy until mondaysparkles-emoji
>>21925989amazing. its like salt on steroids in terms of enhancing flavor. you put it on your tongue and your mouth just starts watering like crazy, its perfect for a candy that you are supposed to suck on. the ice cream version is the greatest thing in the universe tho.gonna go to the store and buy a bag because they dont have the ice cream right now
purple mark, take me hometo the place where I belongyee on tea-ahhong-kong mamatake me home, purple mark
>>21926117since we're on the subject, any american anons with leads on proper bitter/salty soft liquorice will be warmly thanked
>>21926164i went tho this huge candy store in the US and they had like 3 products in total that had any licorice at all in it.
>>21926164Ikea has the salty stuff. It's the only one I've tried so I can't compare it to anything else. But it was...not for me.
>>21925688Funny. When I had some while I was IRL at Alishan, I actually wasn't a huge fan of it and prefered the long jing. I think I still have like 200g of it somewhere deep in my tea shelf.
>>21926164ahoy, matey. yarr.
im sorry i ruined your nice tea thread
>>21926340don't worry about it, here have a nice cuppa.
>>21926360*instantly gmauls you*
Can tea help us cope?
>>21926428it helps me cope with the fact that coffee is too damn expensive now. I'll probably end up drinking tea for the rest of my life to get that cheap caffeine kick, unless this too becomes a luxury item... FUCK
ngl i hate how my i´m the only one, so it seems, working on those friendships. It feels that if i don´t talk, the friendship will die.
>>21926458tea?
>>21926467I was browsing KTM while writing this one so i think it can pass for now.
>>21926467Also, i mean, isn´t tea about thinking a bit? Wondering? Id love to talk with you guys about life sometimes.
>buy pajeet fgtfop darjeeling >seller shows pic of whole leaves>receive broken leaves full of dust Thanks, ranjeesh
>>21926517+10000 izzat
I'm drinking some mystery "gift bag" tea that looks like rat droppings. The only word on the package that I can decipher is 'tanbei', which I thought was a moniker for a smoked kind of oolong.Tastes breddy gud, creamy and toffee notes, but what the fuck is it?It reminds me of some Anxi Tieguanyin that I've had previously.
>>21926480
>>21926538Post pics maybe?Ginseng oolong kind of looks like rat droppings
>>21926480I kinda see where you're coming from but this isn't a blog, and /ck/ is a slower board so it's not like we can shitpost whatever and we'll rotate through three threads a day anyway like you could do on /vg/ or something. If everyone just starts blogposting about personal shit the thread will probably very quickly go to shit.
>>21926432could always drink yerba mate. stuff is quite cheap
>>21926541Smile 3
>>21926432>unless this too becomes a luxury item...You better hope WW3 doesnt happen, or you're going to end up paying top dollar for pajeet dust. >>21926549Unless the south cone doesnt become a battleground between Brazil and Argentina. And it will, if Milei has his way.
>>21926545>Ginseng oolongoh yeah, that must be it. it's quite nice, even though this cheapy sample is probably not very high quality.
>>21926569I always kinda wondered what that stuff is like. Is it a ball of oolong with a powder coating stuck to it somehow?
>>21926577it's a process called ball rolling. it's loose leaves rolled by hand into convenient little single servings. you add hot water to the ball and let it expand.
>>21926585some other ones look nicer茉莉龙珠 jasmine pearl
>>21926585rolled by a virgin?
>>21926732Virgin rolling is extra.
>>21926548
>>21926585That's normal oolong, the ginseng oolong has some dusty ginseng powder or whatever on it.
>>21926822As a pur erh ripe cake aged enjoyer im learning just now that there are people who mainly drink oolong. Why is that? Is there aged oolong or what?
>>21926843There's aged oolong, though personally I haven't had one I was very impressed with yet. There's not much being exported to the west it seems.I'm not really into green oolongs, but I can see why people get big into stuff like dan cong or yancha, they're interesting. I'm pretty big fan of yancha personally. Oolong is a super diverse category so it's got that going for it.I drink a lot of ripe too, maybe you'd enjoy some yancha or roasted dong ding.
>>21926822yeah it kinda reminds me of moon rock cannabis buds
>>21926843>Why is that?Probably because they think it's good.>Is there aged oolong or what?Yes and the good ones are quite good, not super complex but they have great longevity and they're easy to drink, super satisfying flavor profile. To generalize, plummy sweetness with an old books aged note, some have prominent roast flavors too. The ones that aren't as good taste sour or only like the roast. But I don't think most drinkers who focus on oolong drink mostly aged ones.
>>21926881delete this
Anon from the other thread >>21907962The 2020 mengku shou is either faded or it's just my brain developing tolerance. I had it in 2022 and I remember it as the best tea I ever had. Right now however it lasts for about 2 pours, the high is rather limited, and all I get after more pours is edginess.Any puerh veterans around? Is it the tolerance? Or would it be better to try to buy some more recent Mengku shou or switch to some other brand? I'm okay with overpaying for brand, I tried finding value in niche shit etc. and the hit/miss ratio just makes it not worth it.
>>21927460have you tried rehydrating it with boveda packs? could have been stored improperly or something
>>21927460>>21927466This, after travel you should wait before brewing the puerh, leave it inside a pouch or air tight container with a boveda pack at least 2/3 weeks when it's a full cake.
>>21927460You should always rehydrate before drinking, and also i find that a young shou will give me a weaker QI compared to a old one. Cakes also vary even in the same batch.>Is it the tolerance?Don´t over think, try another brand and move on. There will always be a stronger one.
>>21927460Revisiting cakes can be like that. Things that I liked can get boring while things I hated can suddenly be tolerable. I wouldn't jump into early conclusions tho, just give it time, every session is different anyway.
>>21926548please let's not turn this thread into /ctg/ and have the same ten conversations again and again. dreadfully boring. resume the frog/blogposting >>21926480
>>21927466>>21927565>>21927615How is rehydrating gonna help? Restore post-microbial action or something?>>21927615>>21927644>i find that a young shou will give me a weaker QI compared to a old onehuh>try another brand and move on. There will always be a stronger oneI tried like 10 different shengs and shous and none did really hit the mark, not anymore. At this point I stopped drinking sheng cause all it gives me is edginess. What kind of shous should I try next? Really tired of trying niche "gushu" shit which always ends up being a disappointment, and don't have $400 to blow on a single 500g premium cake from flagship brands. How long have you been drinking puerh anons? I have been going for I think 6 years at this point and suspect I'm developing long-term tolerance. Same shit happened with alcohol, I used to drink it heavily but nowadays even after one shot all I get is headache.
>>21927660So, as i was saying, doesn´t it feel sometimes like you are the only one standing for some relationship? A friend, a girl. Not even trying to sound like a little bitch, but it does feel like social media its frying my brain. Why should it matter if a mf doesn´t reply my text? I know it may mean something, like a lack of care, but in the end its just the internet. Why should i give a fuck about the internet anyway?
>>21927744Iv been drinking for around that same time mark but i do drink just one session a day - around 6/7g. And i also don´t drink coffee before it, never - and its rare that i do at all. It hits harder than other times sometimes, but it always hit. >Really tired of trying niche "gushu" shit which always ends up being a disappointmentYou should start writing to sellers asking about QI and recommendations for strong ones, you would be suprised how sometimes the strongest will be a cheaper one.Are you just in case drinking a lot of coffee nowadays?
>>21927747>lain picSorry anon, that's a dead giveaway of how things probably are. Are you on meds? The relationships you are talking about, are they strictly online? If you want the real thing, you have to go out and put effort into building it.. Maybe I'm wrong. And sorry for the harsh tone, but this is not your hugbox.
>>21927752I just dig Lain and i always try to post with an image, and im lacking good reactions. >Are you on meds? No, not a schizo yet.>Are they strictly online? They are in fact friends from my small hometown. So, you know? If we stop talking, the relationship will just die. I live in the big city now and i do have friends that i ocasionally see. The problem its more about mantaining the relationship with the ones that are far. >And sorry for the harsh tone, but this is not your hugboxDon´t worry, i´m a newfag from 2009.
>>21927760My bad. Sorry.>The problem its more about mantaining the relationship with the ones that are far. It's just normal cycle of life. People get older, start families and shit, and on top of that when you are physically away from them it only makes sense things start drifting away. I wouldn't worry too much about them not replying. I would worry if I were in the same physical place (and similar life stage) as them and they continually showed disinterest in maintaining the relationship.
>>21927751>Are you just in case drinking a lot of coffee nowadays?Yeah, lots. Used to cause sleeplessness but recently not that much anymore so I drink coffee a lot. Puerh is the main culprit for sleeplessness nowadays.>You should start writing to sellers asking about QI and recommendations for strong onesHow is this gonna help? They will offload whatever at you
>>21927744If you think it's tolerance take a break from it and try the same tea. Strongest Qi in the last 3 years for me was a session with 2023 ao ne me sample from farmer leaf. Not sure why but it really felt great and I was drinking tea everyday before and everyday after. I'm not looking for it but sometimes it happen, can feel a little generic sometimes when I drink puerh but the same cake two weeks later will feel fantastic and feels like I'm rediscovering it. The cakes should smell quite a lot and don't be brittle should be able to bend a little without breaking, If you need 3 or 4 brew before having a decent taste and depth it means the cake is too dry.
>>21927794I liked the sample of the ao ne me I managed to get then. I'm pretty sure he didn't stock it since which is a shame, maybe this year with maocha demand being down.
>>21927792>so I drink coffee a lotSee, the high of the pur erh its a combination of theanine and caffeine. If your caffeine receptors are bombarded part of the high will be lacking as the pur erh has a much lesser amunt of caffeine. Coffe its much stronger. Its like smoking a fat joint and then smoking a small one, you will have a hard time noticing the high on the second. Precisely shou as its more mellow.
>>21927833It's mostly not about theanine or caffeine, but the various mostly unmapped active compounds. That's why anon gets better and more intense high from gushu than plantation tea or just pure synthetics.
alwazah my beloved
Just tried the 80s liubao from KTM. Good stuff, it's basically what I want out of a liubao. It's strong, though, very strong. I put in approximately the usual amount of leaves I use with something like CNNP's orange box liubao into my grandpa cup, and the liquor is vantablack and it's actually hard to drink. The flavour is overbearing and it feels physically thick in the mouth. I'm gonna try with way less leaves tomorrow. Which also makes it very interesting as a daily drinker, since it's already so cheap, and if I need a smaller amount of leaves than usual too then I could practically get myself a lifetime supply.>>21927744Take the liubaopill anon>I used to drink it heavily but nowadays even after one shot all I get is headache.I think that's the opposite of tolerance, isn't it?
>>21928409Nice, I'll get a chance to try this one in a few days when my KTM order arrives
