Post regional specialties and local spots from your hometown, things you can only get in that area.

This place was in the town i grew up in the midwest. Mugs up. Tiny ass drive up place. They are only open during the warm season. basically just hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, fries, cheese, and soda..and any combo of each. The ladies who come up to your care, memorize your order. They put those trays on your door window. They also have home made root beer, which is the absolute best soda ive ever had in my life. If you come to missouri give it a try!
my go to order is always the same. Two chili cheese dogs with onions and a root beer.

Persians are technically a thing in some places down in the US midwest, but they're also specifically a thing in Thunder Bay, Ontario. My cousins from Fort Frances (4 hours west) and Winnipeg (8 hours west) were very confused when I, as a kid, told them I liked to lick the icing off of Persians. My buddy from Iran wants me to bring back a shirt next time I go home.

Blaming Wikimedia Commons for this one.

Also RIP the Hoito. Finnish diner in the basement of the Finnish Labour Temple, except the building was burnt out and subsequently demolished a few years ago. The Hoito was known for its pancakes and was mostly just a decent diner, though they also served stuff like karjalanpiirakka.

In santa Ana and Orange, you can get a fried fish, cabbage, and tangy pico salsa burrito this big. I buy one before big trips and I'm full until dinner with light snacks. Protip: instead of pouring salsa in the car, sip at the container like a fine wine.

It is also phenomenal.

The scramble dog is a Columbus GA specialty, and in my biased opinion the king of regional dogs. Hot dog on a bun, sliced up then drowned in chili and onions, topped with cheese, pickles, oyster crackers and sometimes mustard. If you're ever in Columbus, go to World Famous Hot Dogs, their's is top dawg. Dinglewood Pharmacy is the OG but it's kind of mid.

I went back to Wiki and opened the article that was mentioned in; the article was written in 2003, but in context it reads as though that had happened years earlier. Since the trademark lawsuit happened in 1967 it might have been any time after that. $10,000 in 1967 is the equivalent of probably around $300,000 today. The official government inflation numbers would pretend that it's about $100,000 today, but if you go by gold price rather than "official government inflation numbers", it would be around $1,280,000. $300K is a realistic number based on food prices.
