Why is chocolate so bad now?
>>21942608They've always been bad even before slavery.
I think the arrival of specialty chocolate as an easily accessible product has drastically changed people's perception of chocolate.
>>21942608Climate change and demand
>>21942608So buy more expensive, higher quality chocolate you twit.
I will never understand being a candy snob, I eat sugar and it taste good stop whining
>>21942628The world doesn't revolve around you queerbo.
>tastes like crumbly shitstephen fry is gay, so you know he's an expert on eating crust too
>>21942608I notice more of them using PGPR which is supposed to let them use less cocoa butter. Sometimes they still use just cocoa butter but sometimes they replace it with cheaper fats.
>>21942608He needs to try the Violet Beauregarde flavored Wonka bar.
>>21942608>most chocolate comes from Africa and Brazil and other hot humid shitholes >they expect the trees to keep pumping the same amount of fruit every year >what is crop management? >yields reduce >demand keeps going up >niggs gonna nig and can't up the production >price goes up >companies start putting anything in the mix to keep prices stable-ish and profits high >everything taste like bearing grease mixed with sugar now
they realised that they can get palm oil/milk fat sludge, colour it brown, solidify it in chocolate bar shape and then put a chocolate bar wrapper around it and people still bite into said palm oil/milk fat sludge and think to themselves 'yummy chocolate :)'
>>21942669>yields go up>companies replace it with cheaper shit anyway and increase prices because that's what they always do to increase profits
>>21942608Listening to a kike lament about other kikes being too cheap to make good confectionary items is just peak goyim behavior
>>21942608Spacing on that tray already looks like a ripoff, not even including cheaping out on cocoa butter like other anons have mentioned.>>21942652Are you suggesting he’s the ass-blastee rather than the ass-blaster?
>>21942669The good brazilian cocoa is used by local brands
>>21942608first Reece's peanut butter cups, now this?!
As a Belgian, and I know this sounds condescending, we have a place that sources chocolate and processes it in such a way that it's not shit, and most companies buy the cocoa and cocoa butter from that places (unless it's like a chocolatier who does that himself, but that is rare)That has kept the standard of chocolate high. But I will admit, there was some problems with cocoa beans in 2025's yield so even that place had to source lower quality beans, and it is noticeable less tasty. But the texture is still good.
>>21942608Late-stage capitalism.
>>21942669Cocoa had two harvest failures in a row due to poor cultivation practices in Africa. See, African cocoa is inferior to brazilian because Africans can't cultivate it competently, they're not farming people.Because it's bad, it's cheaper and cheap chocolate brands bid for it (large amounts of cocoa are bid on) to make their cheap chocolates. With the crash, the best cocoa was already bid by the best brands for their high grade products and middle of the road (think lindt) bought up the remainder middle class to low class cocoa. This completely squeezed cheap makers out of the market that had to buy at any price. Which obviously means they had to thin it out and lower quality as much as possible while also increasing prices.Shitty cheap chocolate going up instantly makes better chocolate go even higher, because they can't be mistaken for the cheaper shit and in one move can preserve branding and increase margins.Dubai chocolate is the perfect example of this. It's a psyop to convince people to consumer lower grade chocolate, at smaller amounts as the bar is filled and not pure chocolate, it induced people to consume pistachios, which had record breaking harvests to the point where the whole market for that nut came close to crashing, dragging along almost every other nut. It coasts on Dubai and Korean influencer ideas (Dubai meaning rich or abundant and Korean being trendy) and was forced entirely by influencers.Unfortunately, Dubai chocolate was so popular it drove up demand for chocolate entirely and not just that specific product, this really strained the entire chocolate market as a whole. Most experts say that cocoa will become more of a rich person's commodity for at least the next 5 years to a decade, when harvests can normalize. It sucks but it's not unheard of, it happened to bananas some decades back due to a plague and inbreeding.
>>21942942No its not, our chocolate degraded a lot after nestle bought most of brands.
>>21942628what's the point then? just buy 1kg bags of sugar and shove it down your gullet by the handful you uncultured swine

>>21943002Late stage capitalism doesn't even make sense as a phrase. Early stage capitalism wasn't regulated at all. People sold snake oil as a cure-all ambrosia and heroin as an opiate dependence cure. Late stage capitalism gives your dumb ass options if you feel like digging beyond Walmart and Aldi.
assorted chocolate boxes always suck though. just buy a bar or something like a terry's chocolate orange.
I actually like the cheap stuff, fight me (you'll lose)

>>21943812I can remember sometime around the mid 2000s-2010s when I bought a block of Cadbury's Snack and almost every flavour was off along with the texture. I thought maybe it was just a bad batch but I bought a block a few weeks later and it was still fucking shit.It might have never been good, but there was a point when it went from bad to fucking awful.
