This is the only affordable option for ground beef these days. Canadian pricing btw.
>>21943102good. canadians deserve nothing good.
>>21943102$13.10/kg is robbery for ground beef especially when Canada has plenty of livestock of all kind it could be half that price.
>>21943102Still cheaper than in Yurope. But why don't you just use ground pork instead?
>>21943147>especially when Canada has plenty of livestockHave you never heard of (((global))) food markets?Saudis are buying up all the local beef.
>>21943102I still buy fresh ground lean beef and I don't even have a job right now
>>21943147>Canada has plenty of livestockNobody gonna eat Jeets my man
1kg for 13 CAD = 10 USD = 8.62 EURyou gotta be insanely retarded and only eat garbage meat to think that is expensiveregular sweets are above 10 euro/kg
I live in a country with an average wage of about 1000 dollars a month (Serbia) and a kg of ground beef is around 13-14 dollars now. It's twice the price of chicken breast and 3 times the price of chicken thighs and drums. For anything I used to make with ground beef I'll use ground chicken thighs and maybe add some ground pork if I need more fat.Cuts of beef are out of the question entirely. Shitty cuts like rump steak cost 20 usd a kg or more. I've entirely switched to pork tenderloin for stir frys and the like. It's unbelievable how bad the pricing is in this shithole.
Yeah but that tube-meat is shit tier quality
>>21943102that tube paste meat sucks. just go for ground turkey or ground pork instead, it's cheaper and you won't tell the difference 90% of the time once you load it up with seasoning and cook it as part of a bigger dish.
>>21943154>Still cheaper than in Yurope.Says who?I just bought 500g minced beef at £2.99 . . .works out as CAN$ 4.97 for 454g.
>>21943223beef is expensive everywhere and it's not going to get any cheaper. cattle is simply too land and resource intensive to raise relative to the demand for beef. it's pretty much just a luxury for the wealthy at this point. expect seafood to be next once Chinese overfishing decimates seafood supplies beyond salvage.
>>21943645>it's pretty much just a luxury for the wealthy at this point. The Serbian guy may have a point due to his location but where do you live to make such wild accusations?
>>21943651Canada.I mean besides fast food hamburgers which probably barely contain any actual beef, and the occasional chuck steak that goes on discount, I pretty much don't eat beef anymore. it's too expensive.note when I say wealthy I don't mean literally just rich people. but upper middle class. middle class might be able to afford some cheaper steak cuts and sirloin roasts now and then, but it's not going to be a staple. and the price is only going to keep climbing.
>>21943102>bags of milk>tubes of beefWhy can't Canadians package food normally?
>>21943659When you mention Class, I kind of get what you mean but the class system is very different in the UK. Beef did used to be a lot cheaper here too, I won't deny that but my biggest problem is the price of Lamb! When I was young (think late60s- early 70s) chicken wasn't really cheaper than beef or lamb but times have changed due to farming methods. I must admit I don't buy as much beef as I used to (even far less lamb) as supermarket beef can be a bit hit and miss (butchers have quality stuff but you pay for it). The beef mince I prefer to buy is 25% fat and I find it cooks far better than the 'Low Fat' 5% offerings. All being British beef of course, I don't recall the last time I saw anything else. I'm unaware of the beef production in Canada, so I can't really comment but if it's that expensive, I don't blame you for moving away, the big problem is it reduces demand so farmers struggle and downsize, this increases prices!
>>21943664I've never seen bagged milk, myself. As for tubes, it's the sketchy bidget stuff. What's more concerning is the opaque packaging. I want to see the meat with my eyes before I buy it.
