>shopping at any of these places when small independent businesses have a much better price/quality point
If you don’t have a local butcher who hangs, ages and breaks his own whole carcasses, you’re doing it wrong. You’ll pay 10% more but the meat will be significantly better quality.
>>
none of those places exist irl
>>
>>21944419
in my experience you'll pay 150% more and the meat will be lower quality than even Walmart. also I have a local grocery store and they charge 300% the price of Walmart for literally the same shit

>No, no. You've never, ever frequented those local stores. You're just looking to cope that you only have the financial capacity to shop at Walmart. Terrible cope

that's usually true though. meat and produce prices are comparable, but at mom and pop's corner grocery, you'll end up paying $4.99 for a box of saltine crackers that's worth $1

I have a Sam club 5 minutes down the street and a Walmart 2 minutes away from that. Or I shop at the commissary on post near me, they price match anything or its lower than any major place in town plus its tax free. They always have good deals on meat.
Publix has decent produce but its more expensive and further away from me, and I havent been to the Kroger in years.

NTA but typically the best butchers that you ACTUALLY get good prices at are normally some meat locker way the fuck outside of town that does processing for the county. Normally they know a few of the farmers so you can get networking for large volume orders of cuts. There's no good deals for quality cuts in small quantities but if you buy in bulk from a local rancher, whole hog, quarter to half cow, whole goat and so on then yes you get a great deal and great quality.

Bullshit. Walmart is persistently more expensive than any of my locals (Giant/Food Lion, Safeway/Acme and ShopRite) for most foods, especially when seasonal shit comes into play. We just had St Paddy's, yeah? Corned beef was $1.88/lb at Food Lion and Giant, $1.99 at Safeway and Acme and $2.99 at ShopRite. It was $3.99 at Shartmart. Cabbage, too. 12¢, 19¢, 19¢ and 39¢, respectively.
And they don't even have sales because of their EvErYdAy LoW pRiCeS nonsense. Unless we're buying paper goods, cleaning supplies, ammo or other non-food items, we don't bother. Fuck that place.
>>21944414
>t. flyover
>>21944419
Really depends on the butcher. I get better prices at the abattoir/slaughterhouse/wet market than most butchers. I only go to the ones that make their own sausages, like this Polish joint in my area inexplicably run by hot Polish bitches, an ancient babushka and the luckiest teenage boy on earth. Never seen a butcher shop run by women, nevermind hot women, other than this one. You show up early enough on Wednesdays and the whole place smells strongly of juniper berries and birch smoke. The smell wears off throughout the day but still prominent.

Grim. I genuinely cannot fathom shopping at Walmart anymore. They consistently have the lowest quality everything. What is interesting however is they have DECENT (Just okay) meat at Sams Club. So why Walmart cannot be bothered to provide edible meat at their regular stores is beyond me. Captive market I guess.

If you lived in Cub territory you would appreciate walmarts prices. I main Aldi, and supplement with walmart, kowalskis, and the Asian market. Cub is a last resort but they do have the biggest selection. Kowalskis is the nicest and most expensive but it probably isn't that much more expensive than Cub.

Walmarts seem to be good at stocking what moves, there are two near me. I need to shop at the ghetto one because the Asian and Hispanic sections are significantly better than the nicer walmart. I can get about 50% of what I would buy at the Asian store at that walmart at much better prices.
>>
Some people in 'murica live in areas where Wal-Mart is the only game in town. But those are places with little to no real estate development and are likely not worth visiting.
>>
>>21945933
I was worried about that but the chickens come vac sealed and wrapped in secondary plastic bag 2 packs, in frozen cases so their pretty uniform. Also i order more than they typically have sitting out so they are getting then from the back.

I did toss in a few extra items agsint my better judgement, fresh stuff, but it was all fine actually. Will continue to chickenmax and toss in any extra odds and ends I might need.

My sister cooks weekly for her medically challenged labrador. She got so she gets home delivery of WalMart for the staples of lean burgers, cans of pumpkin, bags of apples, watermelon, and other fruit, and big bags of frozen green beans and vege. I swear nothing she buys is more economical than Costco. But WalMart schedules deliveries down to like 2hr windows. My biggest issue is quality, however. It's inconsistent. If I were to walk in to a store, they'll have some produce missing or past expiration, such as cilantro, and it'll ruin your whole dinner plan.
>>
>>21948095
I recently got pickup from Walmart for the simple reason that we don't fuck with red potatoes, it was St Paddy's, my wife and I like yellow potatoes and they're the rare product that actually is cheaper there v other stores so she ordered some things we know other stores in our area don't have* and a 5lb sack of yellow potatoes and asked me to pick it up before I went to get her from work.
Guess what was the only item missing from the order?
I had to go into the store and grab the bag of potatoes myself because, yes, they're in stock but no, the fulfillment workers aren't intelligent enough to have grabbed them. Thankfully, everyone in the queue were kind enough to let me go ahead of them since I was only buying the one item. And that's another thing! 20 fucking registers and only four opened at any time! With 300 customers waiting to pay! Fuck that store.
Another store in my area has scan-as-you-go carts so you don't even have to go to the registers anymore. Much faster. Double fuck Walmart.
>*That's another edge case use for Walmart. For some reason, other stores here don't carry Nestle peanut butter drumsticks, my wife is Marathi which means she's addicted to everything peanut so that's the ice cream and wants so she ordered the potatoes, some clearance yarn and a bajillion boxes of peanut butter ice cream cones

>>

>the 8 self checkouts

Jesus.
My local independent has just six registers, not including the tobacconist's counter, but usually only one is manned. They have a "code", IC3 meaning that if the bitch at the till sees three customers in her line, she gets on the PA and says "I see three" and someone else from somewhere else in the store rushes over and takes one of the two other people waiting in line to a second register. Around holidays, all six are in use but because that place is no nonsense (and most of the women working there have been at that store for thirty+ years since it's a friends-and-family owned and operated place and they surprisingly have every single produce code memorized), they get you out ASAP.
Walmart has more employees, usually doing what looks like fuck-all, and yet everything goes much, much slower. Or they don't grab >>21948128's potatoes.

No, no. Every single grocery store does that and there are other employees around. The thing is they're not going to "open up" for a few reasons. Management needs to keep up with the sales so they need to keep those people stocking and replenishing, they're not trained to be cashiers (a choice), and not all of the POS terminals on the checkstands actually work. For the latter it's common for them to recycle parts from one to fix another because these companies only allocate so much for a store's budget. If anything, "undermanned" stores are always going over budget due to hours. The companies want you to wait longer.
>>
>>21948309
