buckwheat. what do you do with this?
is sure has winrar nutrition.
ive enjoyed milk porridge, with butter & prunes.
also for savory dishes, i found that sauteing the stuff with an egg works great, think it keeps the grains individual better.
other dish ive enjoyed is buckwheat with onion, dill & farfalle.

it gets very soft when cooked for 15mins. like softer pearled barley.
i buy the toasted kind of the stuff. pretty unique taste, maybe id describe it as somehow nutty & flowery.
also not sure if i just imagine it, but my piss smells like it after eating.

I came across some Eastern Euros (Latvians) eating it once and I was curious (I'm a Bong) I was offered a spoonful, it sort of tasted like 'puffed wheat' breakfast cereal but not quite as tasty.

I bought some, to give it a go but the novelty soon wore off, I would only use it to pad out a soup or stew.
I never bothered with it again.

yo
Just tried this for the first time
It's kinda like, maybe smokey? And nutty too.
It's odd.
Texture in between oatmeal and rice.
Haven't tried it sweet with fruit yet, only butter and eggs.

Nice, i love oats. Ill keep an eye out for it.

buckwheat is fucking awesome. tastes amazing on its own even without butter. if you don't like it then you aren't going to like it's derivatives.

only tried it as a replacement for rice when someone else's been making disheroos
might try it in place of oats, but i'll have to finish those first

same here, i consumed about a kilo or even half a kilo bag of it and never bought again. guy i know takes it as fuel on hikes or backpacking trips because it's pretty good nutrition-wise but i'd rather just have some peanuts on me honestly.

Peenuts are wasted weight unless you're super lean. Only carry carbs and protein and use own fat stores.

that's a good point actually. i'll have to think about bringing something like that. one time i brought a chicken schnitzel(yes it was breaded and fried but otherwise pure chicken breast) with some veggies in a bread bun but it left me feeling a bit heavy.

Buckwheat cakes and injun batter.

Seriously though as a person who's from an area with local buckwheat production the only way I'd ever do it was buckwheat cakes. Add either savory meat gravy or maple syrup or a fruit compote. It's a good dynamic, between the savory nutty robust flavor of the pancake and the equally bold but sweet taste of a good dark syrup, better than wheat pancakes even I think. Pair with a side of eggs and ham.
