What do you get at your local Italian grocer?
>>21948425genoa garloid
Kicked out
>>21948425My what?
>>21948425italians
>>2194842530 kilos of dried ziti
>>21948425Depends on what their bakery and prepared foods sections are like. Meatballs and lard bread if they have them.
>>21948603how old is this picture. meatballs are so expensive now
>>21948430i lel'd irl
>$10.95 for a piece of toastjesus lmfao
garloid
>$3 for a can of DOP La ValleIf this picture isn’t old, I’d buy like 50 cans of that shit.
>>21948425The owner of my local family owned Italian grocer just passed away, in his 40's, a few weeks ago.I would get a sub that he made, called the "Chris Combo".R.I.P. Chris Bertucelli
>>21949453Goodnight sweet prince
>>21948425>7 dollars for 30 cents worth of dried and molded wheat I can see why most places don't have an italian grocer. Who falls for these scams?
>>21949453He looks so joyful here. Ripperoni Chris, I never met you but I’m sure you made a lot of people happy.
>>21949453What was in that sub?
>>21948425I don't really have an "Italian grocer" but I have some areas near me where a lot of Italians live so you'll find awesome import products. For me the first thing I'll probably look for is quality (bufala) mozzarella and maybe some fancy pesto and guanciale. >>21949453Oh wow that sucks, his sandwich looks great. Toodles for Chris man!
wtf are Genoa toasts? >>21949453rip
>>21949856its just garlic toast. 11 dollars a pound actually isn't that much because it's toast so a lot of the water weight is gone. I assume they sell it as a snack and you're usually buying 3 ounces for 2 dollars.
>>21949758The Chris Combo was ham, salami, two different melted cheeses, garlic spread, and Italian seasoning.Technically, it was a "family secret" recipe, but you could relative easily distinguish what was in it (outside of the exact contents of the garlic spread).
>not shopping at the local Italian grocestngmi
>>21949055Per pound dipshit
>>21949453The owner of my favorite polish deli died unexpectedly like 6 months ago. It was the first time in a long time I got really sad someone died who wasn't a close family or friend. He was always smiling and throwing you free kabanosa and asking how the family was doing. Preparing for Easter dinner isn't the same this year :(
>>21949842The italian places near me all have a lot smaller pieces of guanciale than I see online, but they have really fatty pancetta that I usually just buy instead for a cheaper price.
>>21950739That is tough. He looks young too! R.I.P.One of my best friends is half Polish and his family is from Philly. I have to see if he's ever been to Czerw's before. The spot that I posted about was a similar situation. The owner fought to keep prices low after the COVID price hikes. Everywhere else in the city took advantage and immediately doubled the prices of everything. Bertucelli's didn't raise prices until like 2022 when it just want possible to stay open otherwise. He said he wanted to be able to continue feeding the community.
>>21950739swiacki's can't stop winning
Pizza Hut
>>21948425I miss having a local italian deli so much. There aren't even any good Italian-American restaurants in my area, just trendy trattorias, fucking Olive Garden is the only place I can get classics like chicken parm or spaghetti with meat sauce.
>>21949453[*]
>>21950739I love/hate the place. Love it for the quality. Hate it for how packed it is. You ever been to that butcher on Allegheny with nothing but hot bitches working there? It's across from Polmart. I get my parowki and serdelki there.
>>21948425Lots of stuff.
>>21951267that bread looks like cheap store bought stuff
>>21951278Yeah. He bought it from a store, retard.
>>21948425
>>21950809>He looks young too! R.I.P. Maybe he had too many kielbasa?>>21951203>Hate it for how packed it isDon't blame the place. Blame Obama
>>21951267Gonna need an unboxing on the JUMBO ravioli and a cross section of that sandwich >>21951286This
Italian flour, pancheta sometimes, parmigiano and pecorino, sun dried tomatoes in olive oil.
>>21948425Its not an italian grocer but i recently tried a garlic salami that looked like it was imported from italy and some really good string cheese braided into a knot enhanced with olive oil and other things. Really good stuff. The cheese was made in cali.
>>21948425sfincione if it's a sicilian bakery/store
>>21948425Nothing. Italian grocers sell mediocre produce for premium prices. They're barely any better than supermarkets.
>>21951600beyond based.sfincione is a western sicilian, mostly Palermo province delicacy. I love it.When I was in NYC i randomly entered a place who was owned by a guy from Borgetto. we spoke in dialect and he told me his cousin in Sicily wanted to join him in the US, so he warned him "here people work hard, and also here is full of finocchi so think twice!"
>>21951696and then everybody clapped
>>21951699yes it was a wholesome moment, there were many other memories from that encounter but I am keeping them to myself since you are acting with undeserved pettiness.
>>21951696haha that’s awesome. love these old school italian places, they’re slowly dying out
>>21951696Nobody in Italy cares about homos. That's a very greasy wop dego concern but not one we give a half lira shit about.
>>21951203no I've only been to polmart once, what's the name of the other place?
>>21948425Prosciutto and provolone on a roll with mustard
eh, forgetabout it
>>21951600Love it but it's practically impossible to find.
>>21951696Sicilians will put anything in their mouth except for a woman’s pussy, I don’t get it.
>>21948425Usually, golfetta salami and bresaola, but I've gotten tired of it lately. i'm coming back to good old french saucisson, suck it, macaronis.
>>21952434I used to know this one Sicilian woman, she was hot but kinda uptight and hypocritical. Made good carbonara though.
>>21951917Polka Deli. The lady at Polmart used to give me and my wife the stinkeye but now she's just kinda used to us. She's not friendly but she's a helluva lot better than the bitch at the other Polish store farther down Allegheny, nearish the Lithuanian music hall.I miss Krakus on Richmond. They were awesome, had great prices, fantastic selection and their sit-in restaurant was tits. Their duck with apples (kaczka z jabłkami) was almost identical to my mother's, which is weird cuz she's Swiss, not Polish.
>>21948425Give me a bag of your finest spaghettini, grocer.>Woah, easy on the parmesan, Luigi. It smells of sick.
>>21949453Vax status?
Weevils mostly.
>>21950729Where's the mayo?
>>21948425Guanciale for carbonara and whatever cured meat I feel like enjoying that day. Sometimes some spicy sausage for sketti. I almost never buy bread from em even though it's very good. Idk why I don't buy it more
>>21948425herpes
>>21948425fodder for my ethnic jokes
>>21948425Racism mostly
