Let's say in a hypothetical scenario certain world powers seemed hellbent on launching World War 3 and you needed to start prepping your bunker. What are some of the most nutritionally complete, shelf stable foods you could stock up on?
>>21949682I would say frozen veggies/fruits and some kind of dairy. These are the food that will keep you sane down there. Eating rice and beans for a couple of years and you might end up like jack in the shining.
>>21949682>nutritionally complete, shelf stable foods you could stock up on?literally MREs.
>>21949682i have over 8 billion longpig in reserve.fatten up with the fast food, candy (including soda), and other bullshit so i can have fuel for the lamps.
>>21949690Why so much sugar?
>>21949834that's not that much sugar for an entire year of cooking if you consider baking and preserving. plus it's non perishable. if you're prepping you should have hundreds of pounds of sugar and honey. same for salt. it never expires and if you have none, youre fucked.
>>21949682Just stock on long shelf-life foods that you normally eat: rice, pasta, tinned foods, sauces, chocolate, etc. And eat them on a rotation (oldest food first) so you are not wasting money. All of the aforementioned foods can last a year or more. Don't forget to get food that is easy to store/cook without electric and get a good water filter as well.
>>21949697>I would say frozen veggies/fruits and some kind of dairy.>Eating rice and beans for a couple of years and you might end up like jack in the shining. You've got a couple years of frozen fruits and powdered milk and shelf stable water?Sounds like diarrhea bunker
>>21949682beans, wholemeal flour / pasta, oats, powdered milk, tinned fish, dried fruit, nuts and seeds.
>>21949860I didnt ssy they should be the only food. Just that theyre important if you dont want to go insane.
>>21949897But you did suggest years supply of frozen fruit and dairy. How do you suggest keeping it frozen and/or spoiling?
>>21949682
>>21949918In a freezer
>>21949928Running a freezer is insanely energy intensive for a bunker who's entire point is that you are able to stay in there as long as possible. The only electricity you should be using in a bunker is a handful of lights, radio, and some small cooking stuff. But that freezer is gonna suck down power that is not at all easily replaced. God help you if it breaks, then you're really fucked. There's a very good reason why cold war era bunkers didnt have freezers, and those were only meant to be sealed for about 6 months.
>>21949682That's like 2 months tops of food
>>21949974My bunkers in the north pole
>>21949690>"But mooom I don't wanna eat my shelf!">"NO SUGAR AND BEANS IF YOU DON'T EAT YOUR SHELF"
>>21949682Water, sugar and salt.If you need more, you' re a fat faggot and won' t survive either way.
>>21949847>that's a pretty small amount of sugar for an average person per yearIs it? It looks like a lot. You're bang on regarding indefinite shelf lide, of course.
>>21949682freeze dried meals by mountain house. last at least 30 years.>>21949690worst way to prep.>>21949974an 8 cubic foot freezer only needs 1 amp.
>>21949847You're fat
>>21949682RiceFlourSaltYeistSugarCorn mealBeansCurred meatsHard nutsSeeds for gardening
>>21950507you're right hold up let me just buy 50,000 dollars worth of freeze dried meals right now that's much easier
>>21950596>Seeds for gardeningUseless and too little too late. If you don't already have one operating at home bunker, you aren't getting one up post-collapse. You will not have a green thumb and you DO NOT have the water to run one if you are a city folk. You don't even have the base chemicals to run hydroponics, much less the dirt and fertilizer shit to make it happen. It's all gone the SECOND pests show up. Where is your pesticide? Do you even know how to work with pest predators to cull pests? Prepping food is WAY fucking easier than making food. Pros have already done all the hard work for you. Leave the food growing to the Amish.
