Spring is Here. How do I salad? I have a shortlist of personal rules but any salad enjoyers please chime in.

>Shock the Greens in Ice Water.
>Make the croutons fresh.
>Don't fuckin use iceberg lettuce

Exception to that last one is a wedge salad I guess.

Man fuck wedge salads. First time I got one, and I realized I was a fucking dumbass. It's the stupidest shit ever, fuck any place that offers it.

For me, small cuts are way more appealing to eat. Like, chopped salads are great. If the size of the pieces are too big, there's this natural \worry feeling of not getting the food to touch the skin past the lips, you know? Sure eating ribs or fried chicken is great, but the cleanup is extra hassle you subconsciously dislike. Or when you bite into a sandwich, people aren't taking two bites out of the middle; any part of the sandwich sticking out is your next bite. Mini spinach is way more palatable to people than normal large spinach in a salad. Personally, I don't care for picture perfect salad so if I want spinach, I don't mind tearing them smaller than trying to find mini spinach, or any sort of analogy. But yeah, smaller cut is often better than larger cut for a salad.

Imma be a liar. Pretty salad is salad more appealing to eat. Color and color contrast are important. Texture too. Tomatoes add nice warm colors. Croutons too. Seeds perhaps in the dressing. Dressing color matters, which may depend on the vinegar you're using. Thin orange carrots or shredded red cabbage (remember, smaller bites are better) are good for salads.

Texture and texture contrast are important too.

Green onions are really solid for flavor if it works.

Dressing is oil+vinegar+other flavour+maybe emulsifier. This is where you can get really creative. I rec that instead of buying a dressing you may or may not like, you just look something up for inspiration and you make the right amount you need. You can also try out dressing and salads from restaurants or takeout places for inspiration, and look at the ingredients list.

I'll be making a salad tomorrow of thin ribbons of cabbage, small cut bunches of kale, slivers of celery, pickled raisins, toasted sesame and sunflower seeds with a dressing of fig and ginger vinaigrette. It will go with walnut and pomegranate molasses chicken and roasted carrots.

use as many different vegetables as you can. tender vegetables are better. slice your onion very thin.

olives/nuts/cheese are required for a good salad.

honey mustard is the best salad dressing.

Just don’t eat the same salad every day. Alternate ingredients & dressings

Im fat and useless and obviously havnt eaten much salad in my days but lately I have been trying to eat healthier so ive been buying those premade salad bowls at the store since I know im not gonna chop up the lettuce and buy a variety of ingredients. Theres a kind they sell with kale, other stuff, and a bunch of seeds. Its pretty good! Seeds are a real game changer.

I like honey mustard but it's like 80% HFCS
>>
>>21952403

>>

I just choose not to eat it I'd rather just splash a little red wine vinegar on top of my salads. maybe I'll make my own some day.

Nta, I make my own honey mustard all the time. Loved it as a kid when eating with mcnuggets. I can make as much as I want, but I can make it as sweet or tart as I want. It's just a simple mix of mayo, mustard (i've always used cheap aldi dijon), honey, and water to correct the consistency. Just mix, taste, and adjust, takes like 3 minutes to make a jar that'll last me a long time in the fridge.

would you prefer a nice dijon vinaigrette with local honey?
