I never believed it could happen to me, but it happened to me: I got gout.

Rich mans disease my ass. Deenz, beer, and liver pate are staples of a poverty diet.

What kind of foods did you guys switch to to alleviate your gout? Keep in mind I couldn't afford fresh vegetables before, and now I can't even walk to the store to get them if I had that kind of money.
>>
>>21957136
>I couldn't afford fresh vegetables
I've got nothing to say about gout, but where are you that canned fish and beer is cheaper than vegetables? Is the only store near you a Whole Foods?
>>
>>21957136
stop drinking

eat more leafy greens

that's all you have to do. use frozen vegetables if you have to. they're often more nutritious than fresh ones anyway.
>>
>>21957136
>hey google, what is gout
oh interesting so I just need to stop eating foods that are rich in oxalic acid? sounds simple enough.
>>
>>21957136
It's the liver
>>
>>21957141
Home brew beer costs like $1/gallon.

Fresh green vegetables are very much a luxury. They often cost more than meat (pork shoulder and hocks go for $2/lb), while having practically no nutritional value. Plus they usually go bad before you can use it all.

Deenz are rather expensive, but it's a pantry staple for when the fridge is empty. I stock up when they're on sale.

I hardly ever eat liver, but two weeks ago I got a tube of pate cause I had a hankering, and perhaps its a coincidence, but right after finishing that I got an acute flare up of gout that's only gotten worse over the last week.

I think this is going to have to be the solution.

I've been pleasantly surprised by frozen peas in the past. Do other vegs freeze as well as peas?

Yes and No?
How good they are depends on the preparation.
Frozen corn and peas do well in a pot with butter, but other ones you’d want to oven roast or they’r pretty soggy to eat.
> B sprouts
> broccoli
> cauliflower
Pan sauteing is fine for frozen onions, bell peppers, and green beans

I'd wager if you got excercise and cut the beer you wouldn't get the gout. Also how often are you excercising and drinking. If you're have 2 beers a night that adds up. The sedentary lifestyle will get you more than the diet itself will.
>>
Is this Kim Jong Un that keeps making these threads?

2L of beer a night, nothing crazy. Been pretty sedentary the last 6 months though. Dog has gotten too old to go for walks in the winter, and I broke my foot in the autumn.

How tf am I supposed to get exercise now that I got gout? Even doing nothing hurts.

>Nothing crazy
Nigga thats a 6 pack of beer a night thats not healthy at all. I'm not against drinking persay but you would only see me drink that once a week in a single sitting
>Excercise
Given your condition its too late for any excercise right this moment. Your best bet is to cut the beer and eat some simple lentils and other good whole foods. I know you said fresh veggies are expensive but I'm sure after cutting back on beer for a month or two you would have the extra money to afford veggies and make some stir frys and good chicken and veggie stews.

Fresh produce is expensive. This is what my local grocer has on sale this week. They also have chicken for $2/lb and smoked ham for $3/lb. Compare the macro nutrients you get per dollar.
A pound of meat is a hell of a lot more filling than 1.5 bell peppers or a head of lettuce.

I make my own beer so it's cheap as fuck, and I already have the next 300L, so quitting drinking doesn't actually save me any money at this point.
>>
>>21957218
>10 cans of Natty Ice a night
Genuinely you have more of an alcohol problem than a purine rich food problem. You're drinking a detrimental amount of borderline swill everynight. Nat Ice is like a step above what alcoholics buy to ward off the shakes pic rel. You'll need to heavily cut back on drinking.
>>
>>21957229
get the carrots and the lemons. bellpepper can be unreasonably expensive, sometimes it's cheap though I don't know if it depends on the season or not, right now it seems to be expensive
>>
>>21957229
>and I already have the next 300L
*already have the ingredients for the next
>>
>>21957229
>Drinking the beer is basically free
It doesn't matter the cost its contributing to the problem and you drinking your low quality swill is not helping
>local grocer prices
Don't know where you live but I'd recommend finding a farmer or buying from some sort of co-op or getting a costco membership to buy their veggies as they are cheap by volume. Not sure what to tell you, you can't put a price on health. The prices you pictured aren't terrible but they aren't going to break the bank either.

I got a bag of limes from the food bank that I've been raw dogging. Never realized how delicious limes were. Just thinking about dem limes is giving me a hankering. Matter of fact, I'm going to eat one right now.

I buy carrots, onions, garlic and ginger. Those are always good value and keep long enough to never go to waste.

Booze will trigger gout every few days and you'll be in pain for at least a week.
So will stress, red meat, fish, turkey, seed oils.
You want keto, fasting, Mediterranean diet, fiber and drinking more water. Gout meds and nsaids will calm down the pain a bit or will knock a few days off if you caught it first thing
>>
>>21957229
Vodka won't trigger gout like beer will. The ham is adding to the problem.
Unless you get meds from a doctor, you can only slow down uric acid from building up in your body

You can drag down your blood uric acid levels by taking benzbromarone. Unless of course you're an American, in which case you're fucked because your medical-governmental complex banned it in the 1970s to force you to use the newly-patented and much more expensive allopurinol instead.

Don't fall for the "we have a new improved drug instead of allopurinol now!" routine, the replacement they're trying to push (febuxostat) literally has "sudden death" as one of its side effects.
>>
>>21961038
Yeah, it took me almost a year after going on benzbromarone to stop having mild gout pain.

Literally the only risk with benzbromarone is that your liver eventually gets pissed off about it, so you have to get liver enzyme tests every few months and stop taking it for a while if your liver gets out of whack.
>>
>>21957136
Look into magnesium bicarbonate (not sold anywhere btw, make it yourself).
>1. Order magnesium hyroxide powder online (cheap)
>2. Buy carbonated or sparkling water from any store (e.g. Sprite) (also cheap)
>3. Mix a 1/4th of a teaspoon of the magnesium hydroxide into a 1/2 litre bottle of carbonated water.
>4. Shake. Wait 2 - 4 hours.
>5. Drink.
>6. The highly-alkalized magnesium bicarbonate travels to the most acidic locations inside your body, in this case the highly acidic uric crystals from gout
>7. Crystals dissolved, gets pissed away from the body
>8. Do this until gout is alleviated (result is not immediate)

I had my first flare up during the great Coof of 2020. I was a chef, I got laid off, I didn't want to work in a nursing home or get the jab, I spent my lockdown collecting my funemployment checks and stimmies, getting paid almost twice as much as I made when I worked because of the enhanced funemployment, and I spent my days drinking tons of beer, getting red lobster surf and turf door dashed to my apartment three times a day, and sitting around playing video games. When it was time to go back to work, I had to take an extra day to go to the doctor, because my toe was so swollen that I couldn't fit my foot in my shoe, and it hurt like a bitch.
It's permanent, once you fuck up enough that your kidneys can't properly filter purines any more, you have to change your diet for the rest of your life. Less red meat, can't even look at most offal, no beer, cut way back on refined sugar, and I still get a minor flare up once, every winter. If I even feel a twinge in my big toe, I suck down a lot of cherry juice and water, and soak it in a hot bath, and even if I do flare up, it's not as bad and doesn't last as long.
>>
It's so fucking weird, I read this thread a few days ago and no shit got gout like two days later. I'm not fat or anything (well, I was a bit heavier before and lost it), but I do drink too much.

Had a bunch of booze and McDonalds in a random binge, and bam. Gout. It went away yesterday though.
