Is it a meme?
What id like to know is the difference bw whats in the op and sth like this. Why do supermarkets use ones like this?
>>21957960Both suck.
>>21957967Im gonna give u the benefit of the doubt and allow you to explain yourself b4 i make a your mom post
>>21957952You'll get socialism probably
>>21957960Those ones don't suck the liquids out of the package, so you can vac seal bags filled with liquid.
>>21957969They both suck, it's literally how the contraption works.
>>21957977Ok my fault that went right over my head lol
>>21957969they suck both
>>21957952What are those, Steak-Ums?
>>21957960less risk of liquid fucking up the pumpcan use cheaper bags (non-embossed) or mylarusually have stronger pumps that don't overheat as easily
It's good for archiving food but unfortunately the bags are plastic.
>>21958209As opposed to what, explain how you'd sous vide without polymers
>>21958755A glass jar
>>21958755sous vide is gay as fuck who cares
>>21958097>liquid fucking up the pumpI've never had that occur in 25 years with Seal-a-Meal due to the way it handles suction. >overheating I don't know how many bags in a row you've sealed but I suppose it's possible. If you're sealing really huge cuts of meat I'd definitely use the industrial looking thing but for most people, the SaM you can find at Walmart or Target or Kohl's should be fine.
>>21957952Probably the most used appliance in my kitchen.
>>21957967
The piece of shit I got from Aldi broke within a year and I barely used it. I got some meme containers too but they don't hold the vacuum very long.
>>21957960i think this one works with all sorts of bags while the other one can only suck the air out of the sous vide bags with the coarse surface
>>21959671i got one from lidl it still works after 2 years perfect for meats and my homemade crouton
>>21957952Nah it's great for freezing stuff like meats. Had some ribeyes the other week that were in my freezer for over a year and they were perfect.
>>21960180its something you cant do without if you freeze pork and beef they ll get frostburnt within 4 months even if they are inside their original airtight container
>>21960189Christmas and easter are basically the only times you can get rib roast for $7-8/lb so I always stock up when I can.
>>21960193same its also the only time they have certain cuts like a singular lamb thigh
>>21960179The Aldi one looked cooler :(
>>21960292this is called masculine washing, aimed towards making stupid insecure men, or nerds, overpay for something that appears cool, dyson and ryobi have been doing this for years
>>21957952it's good for mushrooms
>Slow Cooking>French Slow Cooking
>>21960300There is no reason for these things to be so clunky, the pump is small and there's nothing else in them aside from a small board and a heating wire. Why is the Lidl one so large, yet it has no built-in cutter?? Also has only one wire despite the width. If anything it's more masculine washing, large machine = MANLY
>>21960370this is like an old school cadillac, the aldi one is a cyber truck for elon thiel type neumasculinity
>>21960349this is a vacuum sealer thread not a sous vide thread, sorry for the confusion
I've had a FoodSaver for over 8 years, and I use it regularly to freeze chicken pieces from whole chickens I separated. I just opened up a few bags of backs this morning to make stock. Three minutes until it's done brewin.
>>21957952Increases microplastic content by a thousandfold.
>>21957952vacuum sealers are pretty nifty but the bags are expensive
>>21960733you can use regular ziplocks
>>21957952Learn the definition of 'meme' before ever posting such horseshit again.
>>21960737mmm more microplastics
>>21960737i thought so too but you cant unless you have the fancy ones grocery stores have
