Do you eat the GREENS from vegetables such as beets and turnips, /ck/? Do you peel and cook the soft interiors of certain vegetable stems, like broccoli?
>>21958238>greenssometimes, if available>peeling broccoli stemsyou're a mad mad man for even suggesting this
>>21958247Broccoli stems have a tough exterior along the lower portion, but tender flesh underneath which goes well in stir fries.
>>21958248>Broccoli stems have a tough exteriorunlike you
Yes. And I don't bother "peeling" broccoli.
You guys are eating the berries that grow on your potato plants, right?
>>21958247>you're a mad mad man for even suggesting this>>21958263op probably means the main stem farther down from the florets which can be rather tough even when fully cooked
>>21958238>broccoliimagine not buying tenderstem broccoli
>>21959037>op probably meansYeah. I don't peel it.
>>21959033>the berries that grow on your potato plantswhat the fuck?
>>21958238I think a better question may be if people sprout their broccoli and beans and such.
>>21959185Yes, in potatoes grow berries. They're poisonous.
>Do you eat the GREENS from vegetables such as beets and turnipsBeet greens are my favorite green. One of the major grocers in the area used to set it out for free. Got it for free at farmer's markets too after one of the workers offered to cut it off for me and I told them it was my favorite part. They gave me a big bunch of discarded beet greens they'd been removing for people all day.>Do you peel and cook the soft interiors of certain vegetable stems, like broccoli?I peel asparagus before cooking. If I peel broccoli stem I just snack on it while prepping.
>>21959221>I peel asparagus before cookingwhy? what that do?
>>21959240I just peel enough to get rid of the little triangle bits, and near the bottoms above where I cut a bit moreso to help it cook more evenly.
>>21959037I'm saving this broccol picture. i just feel like I'll need it one day.
>>21959203>poisonous berriesFurther proof that we are in fact in Hell.
>>21959341I fail to see what's so hellacious about a plant bearing poisonous fruit.
>>21958238If the broccoli head is big enough, yeah I shave off the stem. I remember buying a whole head for the first time, chopping it up and boiling em. I tried the trunk and was amazed that it was sweet af. Broccoli is sweet, wtf, nobody talks about this. If the trunk isn't big enough though, it isn't worth it so I'll just eat the whole thing
>>21959341Potatos are part of the nightshade family, like tomatos, eggplant, and poisonous nightshade. It's not that surprising
Also, if potatoes rot, they start emitting poisonous gas, so store them well and toss when needed
>>21959304Go ahead! It's yours my friend :)
>>21959037That bit tastes like cabbage cores, but it's less woody.
