I'll give it to them, their store is clean, ingredients fresh, don't skimp, in fact give extras (6 bacon instead of 4 type thing). About 50% of the time they throw me a small cup for soda and I never order drinks from them ever. They put on new gloves each time they go from sandwich making to working cash etc. The family lives in town, and they donate subs for a whole bunch of local events etc. Like they actually want to be a part of the community.I know this is a rare experience having dealt with many other Subways with 'student' workers. The small town has a FB Community group and they are vocal about 'new canadians', which I typically enjoy, but even the bitties in that FB group talk about supporting the local Subway and the family. This is how it was in the 80's and 90's. Hard working family comes over, tries to become part of the community, does well and are accepted. I feel like I'm living my childhood again here. But the second I go into the city it's just a non-stop brown wall of bobbling heads, gross shit everywhere, fuckers driving around with decals of some martyr jeet with AK-47's, etc etc you all know the story by now.So, I do support my local Subway in this case.

I personally would rather buy some other kind of food for lunch if it costs as much as the more premium sub places.

Luckily i got one free meal at work but I remember for the most part I would buy a 5 dollar black forest ham foot long, load the fuck up on as much toppings as humanly possible and just drench it with sauce simply for the calories, eat half then then a sloppy wet mess later at night. Eventually the same lady would see me come in every other day and started giving me "day old cookies" i dont even know if that was a policy to throw them asway but i never questioned it. Fuck....even mcdonalds back then was a deal, i would get the poor mans bigmac, just a cheeseburger with added mac sauce, you could get 2 of those for like 3 bucks. fuck as bad as that was I actually had it pretty good
