What’s your opinion on boiled hot dogs?
>>21961232The correct way to cook a dog.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRgbSOphYbI
>>21961234Aggressively American video.
>>21961232Best method for everyday life. It's faster than grilling and leaches some salt (Costco hotdogs especially are quite salty).
>>219612323rd best option afterGrillingMicrowave
>>21961232A hot dog should be made with a brat simmered in beer and then briefly grilled. Anything else is incorrect.
>>21961233My family always grilled growing up, my Dad is a big time griller, but lately I’m trying out boiling.Today made some beer boiled hot dogs and they turned out good.Boiled the beer with onions, garlic, and some spice, then simmered the dogs for about 5min
>>21961232I would rather microwave than eat a fucking nasty boiled hot dog.
>>21961232too much heat.the water should be no hotter than 140F.this is to allow the dog to absorb all the spices in the dirty water.boiling destroys the spices' integrity and ruins flavors.it's about a hot bath, not an execution for crime.
>>21961234Jesus
>>21961247>140FTry again, use *real* units of measure
>>21961232peak white people food
>>21961254Alright palGo to your local petrol station and convert some liters to decaliters, faggot.
>>21961247Just simmer itYou shouldn’t actually “boil” it
>beer boiled extra long frankfurters >steamed buns>mustard and onionsPeak HotDog
>>21961265Divide the number by 10? Sure, that's easy. Even if nobody uses decaliters, it's simple to convert if I wanted to. Now you go precisely convert from gallons into ounces without using a calculator.
blongers are similar, though not heated to boiling point just 60c to 70c, 140f to 160f, so the offal doesn't get too dry or tough
>>21961265Step back 1 and 1/4 inches before I slap you and then go another 3/17 of a mile until you fall off a cliff pal
>>21961275>Now you go precisely convert from gallons into ounces without using a calculator.Cars and gas stations are all designed to work on gallons/liters. There is no need to convert anything.Face is dude, unless you're a baker or a scientist, you don't need to convert. Your everyday life isn't so important that it requires unit conversions.
>>21961296The USA put a man on the Moon using metric. Let that sink inside.
>measuring anythingI just feel when it’s right
>>21961296Yeah and I've never once had to convert shit into decaliters, but I could if I wanted to. You're stuck using a shitty outdated system for no real reason other than cultural momentum.
>>21961243you can boil and then grill
>>21961301That reinforces my point about bakers and scientists.>>21961303Yeah because you're a pleb who doesn't have responsibilities important enough to warrant unit conversions. That stuff is all done by more important men who build the infrastructure that makes up your world.Yeah you could if you wanted to, but you don't need to.
>>21961350Fuck you faggot. I'm an engineer. I designed your car. Decaliters is a random unit nobody uses, just like hectometres or decigrams. The point is that the system is modular and conversion is easy, and we don't need to memorise all the different arbitrary bullshit conversions that the outdated imperial system comes saddled with.
>>21961359Ok great palBut you don't use your engineer training to pump gas!
>>21961254i will use this opportunity to enlighten you, unwise one.>metricbased off of water, which changes densities based on elevation.highly innaccurate.>imperialbased on the size of barley corns, which have not changed size in over 500,000 years.extremely accurate.now you know.
>>21961275>Divide the number by 10? Sure, that's easy.exactly!metric is the common core of measurement.get a brain, use it.stop being a 90 iq.
>>21961366It occurs to me that the only reason you use imperial is that you were born into it. It's not better, it's not easier, your life would be exactly the same if you used metric.Your brain isn't built for numbers that aren't prefixed with a "$". So it doesn't matter. You're just a substandard human.
>>21961370weak bait, pure nonsense
>>21961373>get a brain, use itoh yeah I'll just switch from metric to a shittier system of measurement for no reason
>>21961378It's bait, stop engaging.
>>21961375>your life would be exactly the same if you used metricGreat. Then there is no need to change anything. Why are metricfags always bragging about something that wouldn't change anything?
>>21961385this too, is bait
>>21961389The other guy said everything would be the same! His own words
>>21961385The keyword you missed is "your", as in YOU specifically. You (specifically!) are too simple for it to make a difference, and I will no longer interact with your replies, thank you for your time. Go drink a Budweiser and jerk off into the desert or whatever.
>>21961395>I will no longer interact with your repliesI accept your concession.
>>21961424nta but kys frogposter, I haven't read the thread but you were probably wrong anyways.
>>21961436>ntakek you're seething so hard
>>21961378>a shittier system of measurementsee>>21961370and accept facts.>>21961376you're just retarded, anon.the proof is right there.
>>21961385i suspect that maybe the only reason you use imperial measurements is because you like feet
>>21961617Wait... I thought US and UK both have ghe same system huh
>>21961233steaming greater than
>>21961626that would've been nicea thousand feet can be either 304,8 or 304,80061 metersthere are two types of pounds and tonsthree different types of miles, pints, gallons and quartsfour different ounces
>>21961232Sodium Nitrate is nasty and worth diluting. No harm no foul when finishing on the grill or pan.
>>21961648Blimey!
>>21961617Looks like the good is winning
>>21961232i think it's good if you've got enough to boil the hotdogs in its own water. those fellas with the carts have an endless stew of hotdogs
>>21961359>implying i have a car that works
>>21961436nta but kys nonfren. I didn’t read the thread but they were probably right
hot dogs and sausies should all be boilt and then brownt
>>21961617We don't use Imperial measures
>>21961232hot dogs boiled or over a camp fire gives me a sense of comfy nostalgia.
>>21961629Will have to try that on some cheerios.
>>21961359>mfw tonnes which sounds like Tons and not Megagrams
>>21961781> tomato relishI’ve never heard of this, will be on the look out to try it>>21961796This winter i kept making hot dogs in my fireplace, it was great>>21961232Only if it’s boiled in beer, otherwise i just put them straight in the microwave or cast iron
>>21961629>t. Principle Skinner
>>21961814>> tomato relish>I’ve never heard of this, will be on the look out to try itit's called "hamburger relish" in most places.
>>21961781>gherkinthis word is pointless.it's called a pickle.
>>21962006I have no control over corporate label style guides
>>21961232When I was a kid my mom used to slice hotdogs in half and fry them in maple syrup. They were pretty good, haven't had one in 30 years but I still remember them fondly. I'm afraid to try it now I just know it wouldn't be the same.
Grilled > oven > air fryer > pan > raw > boiled
boiled hot dogs cut up into mac and cheese was our "dad has to do the cooking tonight" meal growing upnostalgic but eh. i used to slop bbq sauce onto the whole thing
>>21962094Baste mom>>21962112That was my meal when i was home alone at 12. Not in a sad way, i liked it when everyone else was either working or doing sportsMy dad was just as good of a cook as my mom desu, mediocre
>>21961232Worst way to cook a hot dog. I bought a hot dog roller just to avoid having to boil them.
>>21962209Wrong.Boiling is the first step to a great hotdog. The problem is people stop at step one and don't realize you have to have a secondary method of finishing them off. Boiling is just the pregame fluffing.
>>21962213No, boiling washes out the flavor
Vastly inferior to every other method. Even microwave is better. Open flame/campfire>charcoal>airfried>pan/stovetop>gas>microwave>boiled
>>21961232only acceptable if the brine is never dumped and hundreds of dogs are boiled in it
Everyone ITT sleeping on boiled dogs If you simmer them just right in a nice brine or some beer they come out really juicy and delicious. You ca fry them up a little after for top tier sausages
split and grilled or rippers are the only good options
>>21961292Did you just make that up?
>>21961232>boiled hot dogs?tasted fine in smoky brine and soya sauce.
>>21961323you can microwave and then bake it.
>>21961266Sous vide?
>>21961359>-18>attoWhatto?
>>21962006Is that a hard G or a soft G?
>>21962615it's jerkin'
>>21962617A jar of jherkin?
>>21962620mhm
>>21961254>Doesn't spend time using a conversion tool or using his science and math skills he learned in grade school>Instead makes a pedantic post
>>21962913>using his science and math skills he learned in grade schooli dont know my height in feet + inches because converting my length into two units for the same thing and mashing them together is something a retard would dothings like this is why science is done in metric
>>21961232OP....I remember one time this got brought up at work, i was like...yeah dude i boil my dogs to bring them up to temp "cook" them. I couldnt believe it when literally everyone else started laughing and couldnt believe it. I was blown away....how fuckin else are you suppose to do it? i grew up doing it, doesnt seem weird. Pop them in the microwave? sure why not.I remember being freaked out by this then making a joke that i put them in my coffee pot so when it brews it cooks the dog for breakfast
>>21961781Looks like you like condiments more than hotdogs. Me? I like hotdogs
>>21963112I mean boiling in a brine is fine, and makes top tier dogs if you give them a quick sear afterward to seal in the flavour. But do people honestly just microwave them?
>>21963617i dishonestly microwave them sometimes(boil by microwaving)
>>21963115I like variety with my hot dogs anon but that doesn't mean anything steals the show from the frankfurter itself
Hot dog day at school was the best. Wieners cooked by the hundreds boiling in a big pot. Once done, they removed from the water and volunteer Moms would carefully place each one lovingly in a soft hot dog bun.The finished dogs would then by wrapped in foil by more volunteer Moms. They were then divvied up by order by class and wheeled to each class as soon as possible. When kids in the classroom heard that knock, and the cart of hot dogs came in the excitement was palpable! It was electric. The tin of aluminum dogs was given to the Teacher along with the quantity each student ordered. Packets of ketchup and mustard were given as the students came to the front to claim their prize alphabetically.Chips and soft drinks, or McDonalds orange drink also came with the dogs as ordered by the kids.>Bring me back
>>21963709my school never had this and I feel disadvantaged
>>21961232For me it's dirty waitress back of the kitchen dogs if you know you know. I would pay double for that service.
>>21963754post webm
>>21963759Sorry I didn't think to save it was hoping by mentioning it someone would post it.
>>21963709Shit no wonder you're all morbidly obese
I'm simmering dogs and then I'm going to brown them on my griddle and eat them on fresh untoasted sliced bread with various toppings I will post my adventure
I used to hate boiled HD's when I was a kid but now its my preferred way to cook them.
i wonder if a food product called "hot cats" would ever manage to become anywhere near as successful
>>21963814No because of the toxo fear.
>>21962609I wouldn't. You don't want the fat or salt of the dogs getting in the sous vide stick. And if your putting them in a bag it defeats the point of boiling them which is to extract and infuse with seasoned water. Just play around with your range and find the right setting.
>>21963790And heeeere we go. Put the cold dogz in your saucepan. We're going to simmer these boiling-frog style, from cold. That way you know they are up to internal temperature once the water starts to simmer, no guesswork here.
>>21963839Cover generously, you need water with some good thermal mass
>>21963840Simmer's going, griddle heating up
>>21963841got my breads and spreads
>>21963842little brush of peanut oil
>>21963843and now they just need a few quick minutes to brown and crisp
>>21963845Don't forget to sell your hot dog water on marketplace
>>21963847look how split and swole these fuckers are
>>21963849going in for the chirry sauce
>>21963852and one with relish and mustard, and then etc.this is definitely the nicest way to prepare your casing meats
