What’s your opinion on boiled hot dogs?
>>
>>21961232
The correct way to cook a dog.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRgbSOphYbI
>>
>>21961234
Aggressively American video.
>>
>>21961232
Best method for everyday life. It's faster than grilling and leaches some salt (Costco hotdogs especially are quite salty).
>>
>>21961232
3rd best option after
Grilling
Microwave
>>
>>21961232
A hot dog should be made with a brat simmered in beer and then briefly grilled.
Anything else is incorrect.
>>
>>21961233
My family always grilled growing up, my Dad is a big time griller, but lately I’m trying out boiling.
Today made some beer boiled hot dogs and they turned out good.
Boiled the beer with onions, garlic, and some spice, then simmered the dogs for about 5min
>>
>>21961232
I would rather microwave than eat a fucking nasty boiled hot dog.
>>
>>21961232
too much heat.
the water should be no hotter than 140F.
this is to allow the dog to absorb all the spices in the dirty water.
boiling destroys the spices' integrity and ruins flavors.
it's about a hot bath, not an execution for crime.
>>
>>21961234

Try again, use *real* units of measure

Alright pal
Go to your local petrol station and convert some liters to decaliters, faggot.
>>
>>21961247
Just simmer it
You shouldn’t actually “boil” it

>>
>>21961265
Divide the number by 10? Sure, that's easy. Even if nobody uses decaliters, it's simple to convert if I wanted to.
Now you go precisely convert from gallons into ounces without using a calculator.
>>
blongers are similar, though not heated to boiling point just 60c to 70c, 140f to 160f, so the offal doesn't get too dry or tough
>>
>>21961265
Step back 1 and 1/4 inches before I slap you and then go another 3/17 of a mile until you fall off a cliff pal
>>
>>21961275
>Now you go precisely convert from gallons into ounces without using a calculator.
Cars and gas stations are all designed to work on gallons/liters. There is no need to convert anything.
Face is dude, unless you're a baker or a scientist, you don't need to convert. Your everyday life isn't so important that it requires unit conversions.
>>
>>21961296
The USA put a man on the Moon using metric. Let that sink inside.
>>
>measuring anything
I just feel when it’s right
>>
>>21961296
Yeah and I've never once had to convert shit into decaliters, but I could if I wanted to.
You're stuck using a shitty outdated system for no real reason other than cultural momentum.
>>
>>21961243
you can boil and then grill
>>
>>21961301
That reinforces my point about bakers and scientists.
>>21961303
Yeah because you're a pleb who doesn't have responsibilities important enough to warrant unit conversions. That stuff is all done by more important men who build the infrastructure that makes up your world.
Yeah you could if you wanted to, but you don't need to.

Fuck you faggot. I'm an engineer. I designed your car.
Decaliters is a random unit nobody uses, just like hectometres or decigrams. The point is that the system is modular and conversion is easy, and we don't need to memorise all the different arbitrary bullshit conversions that the outdated imperial system comes saddled with.
>>
>>21961359
Ok great pal
But you don't use your engineer training to pump gas!
>>
>>21961254
i will use this opportunity to enlighten you, unwise one.
>metric
based off of water, which changes densities based on elevation.
highly innaccurate.
>imperial
based on the size of barley corns, which have not changed size in over 500,000 years.
extremely accurate.

now you know.
>>
>>21961275
>Divide the number by 10? Sure, that's easy.
exactly!
metric is the common core of measurement.
get a brain, use it.
stop being a 90 iq.
>>
>>21961366
It occurs to me that the only reason you use imperial is that you were born into it. It's not better, it's not easier, your life would be exactly the same if you used metric.
Your brain isn't built for numbers that aren't prefixed with a "$". So it doesn't matter.
You're just a substandard human.
>>
>>21961370
weak bait, pure nonsense
>>
>>21961373
>get a brain, use it
oh yeah I'll just switch from metric to a shittier system of measurement for no reason
>>
>>21961378
It's bait, stop engaging.
>>
>>21961375
>your life would be exactly the same if you used metric
Great. Then there is no need to change anything.
Why are metricfags always bragging about something that wouldn't change anything?
>>
>>21961385
this too, is bait
>>
>>21961389
The other guy said everything would be the same! His own words

When I was a kid my mom used to slice hotdogs in half and fry them in maple syrup. They were pretty good, haven't had one in 30 years but I still remember them fondly. I'm afraid to try it now I just know it wouldn't be the same.

>>
>>21961232
Worst way to cook a hot dog. I bought a hot dog roller just to avoid having to boil them.
>>
>>21962209
Wrong.
Boiling is the first step to a great hotdog. The problem is people stop at step one and don't realize you have to have a secondary method of finishing them off. Boiling is just the pregame fluffing.
>>
>>21962213
No, boiling washes out the flavor
>>
Vastly inferior to every other method. Even microwave is better. Open flame/campfire>charcoal>airfried>pan/stovetop>gas>microwave>boiled
>>
>>21961232
only acceptable if the brine is never dumped and hundreds of dogs are boiled in it
>>
Everyone ITT sleeping on boiled dogs
If you simmer them just right in a nice brine or some beer they come out really juicy and delicious.
You ca fry them up a little after for top tier sausages
>>
split and grilled or rippers are the only good options

i dont know my height in feet + inches because converting my length into two units for the same thing and mashing them together is something a retard would do
things like this is why science is done in metric
>>

OP....I remember one time this got brought up at work, i was like...yeah dude i boil my dogs to bring them up to temp "cook" them.
I couldnt believe it when literally everyone else started laughing and couldnt believe it. I was blown away....how fuckin else are you suppose to do it? i grew up doing it, doesnt seem weird.
Pop them in the microwave? sure why not.
I remember being freaked out by this then making a joke that i put them in my coffee pot so when it brews it cooks the dog for breakfast
>>
>>21961781
Looks like you like condiments more than hotdogs. Me? I like hotdogs
>>
>>21963112
I mean boiling in a brine is fine, and makes top tier dogs if you give them a quick sear afterward to seal in the flavour.

But do people honestly just microwave them?
>>
>>21963617
i dishonestly microwave them sometimes
(boil by microwaving)

>>
Hot dog day at school was the best. Wieners cooked by the hundreds boiling in a big pot. Once done, they removed from the water and volunteer Moms would carefully place each one lovingly in a soft hot dog bun.
The finished dogs would then by wrapped in foil by more volunteer Moms. They were then divvied up by order by class and wheeled to each class as soon as possible.
When kids in the classroom heard that knock, and the cart of hot dogs came in the excitement was palpable! It was electric.
The tin of aluminum dogs was given to the Teacher along with the quantity each student ordered.
Packets of ketchup and mustard were given as the students came to the front to claim their prize alphabetically.
Chips and soft drinks, or McDonalds orange drink also came with the dogs as ordered by the kids.

I wouldn't. You don't want the fat or salt of the dogs getting in the sous vide stick. And if your putting them in a bag it defeats the point of boiling them which is to extract and infuse with seasoned water. Just play around with your range and find the right setting.
