How did Japan manage to convince the world that mystery filling wrapped in a giant clump of unseasoned rice with a sheet of seaweed was "food"?
>>21962438Rice prepared for onigiri is cooked with salt. Kinda silly you're so mad at something you know nothing about, no?
>>21962438They didn't, they just eat it because they like it. No one knew about it until white people came and acted like the equivalent of gas station food was high cuisine.
>>21962438I love jelly filled donuts!
>>21962438>japanese klobasnik
>>21962440No it's not, salt is applied when rolling itSalt is never used when cooking plain white rice rice. Only for stuff like 炊き込みご飯 or 栗ご飯
>>21962438We do something similar in Mexico. We call them tacos
>>21962875Dammit you're right. At least my point still stands.
Probably not the best thread to ask but does anyone know any good Japanese cooking channels on YouTube?
>>21962438I went to Japan recently and ate a bunch of these. They fucking suck. The fillings are cheap and nasty and the rice is not that good after sitting there for many hours. Other konbini/supermarket slop was a lot better.
