Fridge quit working last night. What are some ideas for non refrigerated foods I can stock up on for now till I get it fixed?I already have chili, honey, peanut butter, and bread on my shopping list.

My condolences OP. Had that happen last year. Lost so much food.Rice, pasta, jarred anything so long as it's a small enough amount that you use it up without leftovers, you can even get away with fresh produce if you don't mind going to the grocery store every few days, just don't buy too much at once because it'll wilt faster outside of the fridge. The other thing you could do, fill your freezer with bowls of ice and use that as a fridge, as long as you're restocking the ice daily and not opening the freezer much things will stay cool enough to store refrigerated items safely.
>>21962914$1 store brand soup cans. Ramen. Beef jerky.
dont forget cheese blocks and nuts you can also boil and pickle eggs pickle anything really theres also those just add water packs of dehydrated shit you can add to rice or whatever
oh and salted meats like real bacon and prosciutto also pepperoni and whatever else
potatoes and oats
>>21963199ooooh dont forget latkasss onions potatoes flour baking soda and eggseven washed eggs can a couple of weeks without refrigeration
>>21962920Black beans spam and rice with rehydrated cilantro and lime sounds like it could go hard.also OP don't be a cuck you'd be surprised how long left overs can go unrefrigerated and be fine
I think there's a lot of decent ideas in here, I want to mention that butter can stay outside the fridge. Butter can make all those bland dishes just a bit better, ya know? If you can find farm fresh eggs, those stay good on the counter for weeks as well.
American cheese doesn't actually need to be refrigerated. I take them camping with canned meat and make toasted sandwiches
>>21963278This isn't completely true and even when the "processed cheese product" can be kept out of refrigeration we still are talking room temp generally, 65-75°.
>>21963303okay but how is any bacteria gonna sneak past the protective plastic barrier, HMM???
>>21963322Not exactly hermetically sealed, hoss.
>>21962914a lot of produce doesn't need to be refrigerated. look it up if you're unsure but most veggies other than leafy greens, and most fruits other than berries are fine, with some exceptions. anything canned and dried. probably will get your protein here. go for beans and canned meats/fish. honestly the only thing you're really going to miss out on is dairy.
>>21963346what if I hermetically seal your ass with my cock? what then, tough guy?
>>21962914Make a perpetual soup. Leave it on low, add something to it every day.
>>21963303i think that spoilage rate rule is bullshit personally like sure bacteria will grow but chances of it growing to a harmful amount depends on the product but for hard cheeses and process cheeses shit aint happening for awhile for mildly firm cheeses you got like a week or three and softer idk if there waxed you got an even longer ass time keep in mind cheeses will firm up on there own if not sealed properly but yah everyone who falls for that if it isn't refrigerated within 4hrs of warm temperature you're fucked meme is an actual sheep
>>21962914Quit your Job Start MRE Channel
>>21962914McDonalds mcdoubles without onions wont go bad for weeks there beef is classified as a jerky
>>21963416>but yah everyone who falls for that if it isn't refrigerated within 4hrs of warm temperature you're fucked meme is an actual sheepare you autistic or do you understand it's just a general rule of thumb right, it's not like people think you go one second over 4hrs and your food magically turns bad. there are also factors besides time like what kind of food it is, the environment, etc. it's just a generalized guideline to follow for overall best practices. and why not err on the safe side and just eliminate any risk whatsoever, are you really so lazy that you can't get up off your fat fucking ass within a 4hr timeframe to put your food away? in OP's case where he literally doesn't have a fridge I would understand maybe taking some more risk, but I don't understand why you would leave shit lying around otherwise. it might only be a small chance it will develop bacteria, but it's still a chance, and putting it in the fridge costs you virtually nothing.
>>21963412sounds like a great way to die from poisoning
>>21963443Nah it's fine if it's at the proper temperature
>>21963463im sure its safe but what if a bug falls in and it has aids
>>21963263>>21963195>>21962930Don't fuck with unrefrigerated rice. It's almost as bad as unrefriderated chicken except you can't smell the danger as easily.
>>21962914Why are people posting so many revolting images lately? Anyways, I'd say stock up on your favorite type of pasta and get a bunch of pesto flavors. >>21963422what>>21963494I follow the 2 hour rule and I pretty much never get sick. Every single person (usually women) that brags about not caring about expiration dates or leaving out food I guarantee you is getting food poisoning multiple times a year but they're so used to it they just accept it as normal roflmao
Anything that's still alive
Just eat canned chili. Might want to drink a lot of water though, so you don't stroke out from all the salt.
>>21963525expiration dates are mostly bullshit though. i eat eggs up to a month after expiration. milk can go like 2 weeks. if it's bad you'll smell it, you dont need an arbitrary number to tell you something is bad.
>>21963412good morning
>>21963588You shouldn't just go by smell though, there's earlier (visual) signs of spoilage usually.
>>21963525I find b cereus to be overblown when there are fermented rice dishes where you put liquid in rice then let it sit overnight at room temp to ferment
>>21963666agreed satan
>>21963422Remember when the internet was still a new thing to most people and some dude put a McDonald's hamburger out in his yard to see how long it would take to decompose? I think he called himself "stinkymeat" on whatever forum he posted the images on.
