ummm so what happened to beef y’all
>>
>>21962932
Cattle are expensive and land intensive to raise, and beef is in high demand. Ergo, the cost has surged. It's only going to get higher btw. No real way around it.
>>
Only gonna get worse. Beef bologna is made from all the shit that falls on the floor at the slaughterhouse too
>>
It turns out that the conspiracy theorists were right. There is actually an elite cabal of "globalist elite" who don't want us eating meat because they want us unhealthy and weak.

>>21962943
Cows are incredibly cheap to raise - you just put them out in a pasture and check back in a few years. However, laws, regulations and corporate monopolies have resulted in an extremely inefficient system that is incapable of delivering low prices... so basically, see my comment above.
>>
>>21962946
>Cows are incredibly cheap to raise - you just put them out in a pasture
And do you think pastures are free? Land is an increasingly expensive commodity, and cattle are big animals that require a lot of land. Environmental regulations to prevent deforestation are keeping pasture land from expanding to keep up with demand, and on the other end climate change induced drought is shrinking the existing land. The result is basically nobody is entering the cattle market because the cost of entry (the cost to buy land) is too high. And existing cattle farmers are cutting back on the size of herds because of shrinking land, and rising cost of feed and fertilizer. Meanwhile, demand for beef is only growing.
>>
>>21962953
Empty land that can only grow grass is not expensive, and in many parts of the western United States, cattle are free-ranged on public land, so the cost is $0. Have you ever see the land they use for cattle ranching? You don't even know what you're talking about.
>>
>>21962958
Yeah >>21962953 is quite ignorant. A lot of cattle are just raised on BLM/Public land. It's actually a bit annoying for a guy like me, they are typically hanging out on hunting areas in my neck of the woods, so you have to be careful. It's 100% market forces and other bullshit. There is so much unused BLM land cattle could be on, and we have a surplus of feed we could use to make cattle get swole af, but we dont?
>>
>>21962943
A large chunk of beef comes from Mexico and tariffs mixed with mexico being unable to raise cattle without it getting sick has reduced the amount of beef entering the country
>>
>>21962932
i cant imagine spending that much on bologna
>>
>>21962932
Companies distributed the cost of tarrifs and passed it on to the rest of the world.

How the fuck is Oscar Mayer salami $9 a pack? For that quality? lol jesus
>>
>>21962932
The same thing thats happening to your freedom, quality of life, and future plans beyond being a slave for the ruling class
>>
>>21963074
But I was repeatedly told tarriffs are good and will lower prices.
>>
>>21963088
Because people are dumb enough to keep paying for it even when they raise the price
>>
>>21962943
>Cattle are expensive and land intensive to raise, and beef is in high demand.

good job Anon keep licking those boots lmao
>>
>>21962946
nobody is stopping you from eating meat besides your empty wallet and lack of a fulfilling career.
>>
>>21963136
Let's see your cattle then faggot.
>>
>>21963037
There is a legitimate issue of all the farmland, meat processing, inspection, etc. all being consolidated into fewer and fewer hands and it being virtually impossible in most states for a ordinary person to just raise cattle, slaughter them, and sell the meat himself.

they usually do this if they have the lowest base price in the area for a certain product. sometimes it's actually true. but it depends on how "ethical" the company wants to be that day.

Bill Gates is the private biggest owner of farmland in the US. Zuckerberg literally has an entire farm for his family’s beef and other foods. The elites want a lifestyle where they can burn gallons of diesel or jet fuel a second in their private planes and yachts and eat all the beef they want without blowing the CO2 curve. And that means the rest of us need to eat ze bugs to make up for it.

According to Macrotrends, beef prices exploded under Biden and are decreasing under Trump, though.

He at least had the excuse of C19 causing that big spike. Glorious Leader has nothing to blame for beef's new all time high but his own incompetence. It's wild watching "you vill eat ze bugs" posters continue to defend the guy who says he thinks kids have too many pencils and toys as he actively erodes American purchasing power.
>>
>>21963426
Yeah because C19 was still fucking with prices in 2023-2024, of course.

Corporate welfare

>>21963141
You're a cucklord

>>21963182
Even being able to do it for yourself is unobtainable for most people.
I completely understand regulations for food being sold to the general public.
But what happened was corporations being able to buy up all the land, build the facilities, and high volume capacities that create such low prices family farms can't compete.
They had the capital to do that in part from government subsidies, and these smaller family farms not getting relevant support.
>>
>>21963190
Kroger does it

>>21963213
They do it because their marketing department told them to, because it works on idiots or people who don't pay attention.

Idiot-in-chief of United States attacks nation with sovereignty over a chokepoint w.r.t the fertilizer supply chain relied upon the world over. Nation utilizes sovereignty to punish aggression of Idiot-in-Chief. No one can get their hands on fertilizer anymore for planting season. Cattle require feed. Feed must be grown. Growing requires fertilizer. Supply squeeze. Costs of fertilizer go through the roof, farmers have to crank up prices to remain in the black, everyone in the intermediate supply chain passes on the increased cost. Bologna hits $9 a pack for the end consumer.

It's going to get worse as the Summer matches on. We're running off of month old Futures. Once this stock is run through, things'll really start reflecting the prices caused by the supply chain disruption. Get ready to choose between eating & everything else.

You don't have to buy luxury bologna all of time time, anon. It's not that expensive if it's an occasional indulgence.

I don't recognize that as a concept

lol is that canada? its like 3-4 dollars cheaper here in texas

Those are definitely not Canadian price tags and Texas sucks
>>
>>21964411
That 16 oz beef bologna is 8 dollars here in Indiana which is still fucking outrageous. It's supposed to be trash lunch meat. Now we have luxury bologna and luxury soup. It was supposed to be a meme not a guideline.
>>
>>21964411
Not sure if you realized but, Texas always has the cheapest beef prices

>>
it is not even a nwo thing it is a money thing
the amount of feed, space, time etc it takes to grow a cow is so,so, so much more of an investment vs growing soybeans o algo that every business man worth his salt long ago got on board with making "real" meat a luxury good, not because they want to gatekeep beef but because they make so much more money selling plant based alternatives

>Yeah because C19 was still fucking with prices in 2023-2024, of course.
Probably, I worked at a corner store during that period and in late 2023, I want to say around September, we couldn't get beer for about a month because supply chains were still fucked up. One of our distributors ended up bringing in a bunch of people at ridiculous wages to brute force the problem away. Of course that's just an anecdote, take it or leave it. That chart shows an increase of what I would say is just North of 50 cents per pound from 2023-2024. Let's be safe and call it 75 cents. 2025 appears to start at about $7 and 2026 has us at about $8.50, a $1.50 increase. 2020-2024 shows beef going from about $5 to about $6.75, a $1.75 increase over a 4 year term. Glorious Leader damn near matched that in one year and he'll probably outdo himself in the near future and you'll continue to make excuses for him for reasons that have no basis in reality.
