What kind of distilling setups will you get?>Implying that you weren’t already distilling before this ruling.https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/us-appeals-court-declares-158-year-old-home-distilling-ban-unconstitutional-2026-04-10/
Distillation is for fags
>>21974741Spoken like a ‘man’ who can’t hold his liquor. Do you like your steaks well done too? Do you have your mommy cut your spaghetti?
Where I live a lot of people make fruit brandy. Usually 40-50%. Plum, apricot, sour cherry and quince are the most common. Pretty much everyone has half a dozen bottles from various relatives that make it even if you don't live in the countryside. It's never been illegal as far as I know so recipes and whatnot have been passed down for multiple generations.
>>21974735Based.>>21974785It’s not technically illegal in the US but the IRS has to issue you a license and collect taxes based on volume distilled. The same way that weed wasn’t illegal, you just needed a Federal ‘tax stamp’ to grow it and they only ever printed one of them and never issued it. It allowed them to functionally ban things without running foul of constitutional challenges.

>>21974785What's the common way to ensure there's no methanol poisoning problems out there?
>>21974735nicei wish i was americanit's illegal here and people are shitty enough to report you for it
>>21975112I've Ben Stillering for decades
>>21974735they put us into prison for tax evasion. even owning a 'still is illegal
>>21975111NTA but that's just not a concern. The fraction with a dangerous amount of methanol tastes really goddamn bad and has to be discarded anyway. The rest has no appreciable amount.Methanol poisoning is always due to someone adding it on purpose.>>21974735My personal recommendation is using animal feed raisins & pectinase to create a thick syrupy wine.
>>21974735Here its technically illegal but the courts have repeatedly ruled that distilling for personal use is a crime of low social impact so the only punishment is getting your equipment confiscated
>>21975111When distilling, methanol has a lower boiling point so comes out first. When boiling stuff, the temperature doesn't actually go above the boiling point of what you're distilling, so the methanol always comes out first, and is gone by the time it gets hot enough for the ethanol. So basically; monitor the temperature, and throw away the first bit of stuff that comes out.
Methanol separation is beyond the capabilities of chemistry novices like us due to phenomena such as azeotrope.
>>21975223Methanol doesn't form an azeotrope with water...

>>21975303He's mostly right but I'm not sure why he insists you can't separate the fractions via a fractional distillation column. Really, the number one thing people should understand about methanol wrt to home distilling is that it's just not that much of an issue and you're getting way more methanol in wine than in a grain-based distillate.
I expect this will result in a lot of retards burning down their homes, and perhaps the homes of others in the case of multi family dwellings

Captcha won't let me post but the short version is that home distillation is banned in every developed country because of the cascade of issues it causes culminating in a mass poisoning that kills hundreds of people or poisons thousands
IN GERMANY you can legally own stills <= 500ml.>>21974763>>21974988By my manbeard, glad to see there are still MEN on this board. *tips baclava*

>>21975382no you can't anymore. Die Alkoholgewinnung durch Destillation ist in Deutschland ab dem 1. Januar 2018 nur in Verschluss- oder Abfindungsbrennereien erlaubt. Also alcohol is so cheap in Germany it's not worth the time and energy unless you own myriads of food trees in your garden. And even then most of those fruits are not the right ones for distilling.
