French cuisine is the most unimaginative overrated stuff ever. This is the menu of a restaurant held in high esteem by Parisian locals and really, everything it serves is just common European grub: steak and frites, pork side, filet.

It only has a grand reputation because it’s le French. That’s it. Imagine a restaurant serving exactly that in Germany or Poland (which is very possible, except the snails), no one would consider it sophisticated or imaginative cuisine.

I have been noticing scattered posts with a single line spacing, appearing recently, in several unrelated boards.
It makes me think this is a bot.

Reddit spacing? Newfag.
>>
>>21981144
It's not reddit spacing because every line has a line spacing, even when it wouldn't make sense to put a line space.

>>21981141
In a way that doesn't really make sense.
Also some of the other posts with similar formatting were obviously AI.

No they don't. There is something wrong with your phone
>>
>>21981149
>It is
It's not, "reddit spacing" refers to a line space between paragraphs instead of just a regular line break.

>No they don't. There is something wrong with your phone
Stupid phoneposter.

France invented grilled meat cuts? Literal cavemen would have a word with you.
Invented pork side? It’s a German everyday meal.
Invented … cheese? Even Pommes are probably Belgian and yes Belgian is a very distinct identity since the Middle Ages.

Everything unique to France ranges from disgusting (snails) to mediocre (bouef Bourgignon, coq a vin). Yes they elevated European cooking practices from peasant level to professional ages ago, but that’s it.

You aren't going to find terrine or pâté, or rillettes outside of France. Here there are several dishes that use terrine.

I can't think of a single restaurant outside of France that just had cheese on the menu as a dish. In my opinion a piece of camembert with nuts and honey is a bit of a scam but I love getting a cheese board before the dessert course. Too bad it's rather uncommon to see that nowadays. When it comes to making cheese there really aren't any countries that can beat France. Italy isn't too shabby but there isn't much variety. Plus I have yet to find a cheese that is tastier than Bleu de Termignon.

I'm pretty sure burbot cheeks (joues de lotte) aren't really much of a thing outside of Frons but I could be wrong.

Besides, the meat dishes themselves may be simple and universal but we have great tasting animals here. Salers, Montbéliarde, Charolaise beef and Bresse chicken come to mind.

Oh got it, you're baiting. My bad.

White™ people invented food and the French perfected it. So like, yeah, you better be giving mad 'spect.

You see, in history books they'll tell you the first people were black, which is true. But what they won't tell you, is that those were White™ people. Whites™© were originally black, which was cool and all, but then black people started copying us and they made it look gay as hell, so White™ people invented being White™, which the blacks lacked sufficient IQ points to emulate. And honestly, I thank blacks for showing us the error of our ways. Being black was really retarded in hindsight, so blacks can have it.

Looks great to me

The prices are absurd because it's Paris but besides that it's fine, it's a simple non-pretentious restaurant
>>
>>21981135
What is the difference between << House >> and "House"?
>>
>>21981135
With these prices they could hire someone to proofread their menu
Also why "maison"? Sounds like a scam
>>
>>21981246
None. << >> are literally just French quotation marks. They're interchangeable with regular quotation marks. But usually you just pick one and don't use the other. I'm guessing they just didn't fully proofread the menu.
>>
>>21981249
Interesting, thanks. I had originally assumed it was for spacing but later in the menu it literally cuts off at the end anyway. Is it a real menu or AI generated or perhaps both? A lot of weird red flags in it.
>>
>>21981252
It was probably just improperly photocopied or edited. Plus these kinds of menus change pretty often and the chefs usually don't have much time to come up with them so I'm guessing it was an honest mistake. I wouldn't be massively surprised if I was handed a menu like this (as a French person), personally.
>>
>>21981252
I just checked their website and they still have the exact same menu but with the errors corrected
>>
>>21981227
I don't know what you're talking about. It looks fine on my machine. If you're experiencing a problem it must be a technical issue on your end (ie you're a phone poster)

I live in Germany near the French border and literally nobody here gives a shit about their food.

You're already eating our food whether you like it or not. I bet you're the type of person who genuinely thinks that the tarte flambée (or the "flammekueche") is a German product. Despicable!

t. mosellan

In all seriousness the people on the French side of the border pretty much eat the same stuff that the people on the German side of the border do. It's tasty and it's what you're used to. They don't give a shit about the stuff they serve in Parisian brasseries either.
>>
>>21981157
His OP image is full of spelling errors too. Standard bistro (think steak restaurant in the US with "staek" on the menu)

Basic fries are French. Fries as we know them today are Belgian.
Belgium is only a distinct entity because they stopped the Romans but got overrun by every European nation since, France included - even though the French kings were originally from Belgium, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepin_of_Herstal.
Domestication and curing of pork in the Western world was invented by the Belgae, a group of Celtic tribes from an area today known as Belgium. It's not Germanic, Spanish or Italian. The Mesopotamians (Iraq) and SEA were first though.
The key to bœuf Bourguignon and coq au vin is the meat and wine. You don't buy either at the supermarket.
The French didn't elevate anything, they just had excellent international connections and adapted as time went on. Escoffier is the best example; half his recipes are plain wrong - even the simplest ones, for gribiche, ravigote and rémoulade, for instance. But the idiots gobbled it up back then and they keep gobbling it up a century later. Pépin and Child are perfect examples.
There's nothing wrong with snails or oysters, you just got to know what time of year to eat them. Only a complete idiot would eat them in summer.
The French didn't invent cheese, they're not that good at making it, even. Belgium produces as many cheese varieties as France, which is 17x larger. The French invented and perfected ripening cheese though - "affiner". A supermarket Camembert has nothing in common (at all) with a hand-picked raw milk May cheese from a select producer, ripened to perfection. Today the Belgians and Italians deliver cheese that's on a par. The Dutch and Swiss are decades behind, despite being famous cheese countries (they gambled on mass market and ads instead of quality).

>You're already eating our food whether you like it or not. I bet you're the type of person who genuinely thinks that the tarte flambée (or the "flammekueche") is a German product. Despicable!
Nah, I know it's French, but it really isn't that good. Most people here don't care and they rarely eat it.
>In all seriousness the people on the French side of the border pretty much eat the same stuff that the people on the German side of the border do. It's tasty and it's what you're used to. They don't give a shit about the stuff they serve in Parisian brasseries either.
That's kinda fair I guess.
>>
>>21981334
>Today the Belgians and Italians deliver cheese that's on a par
I don't know where you got this idea, Belgium can produce a few decent cheeses and they're mostly old goudas or gouda-like cheese. Herve doesn't event come close to French washed rind cheeses.
Italy is more complex, it has quite a lot of variety but still doesn't come close to France. The only type that France doesn't produce is stretched curd and it's kind of a meme. I found that a lot of cheeses in Italy lacked ripening and were often pretty bland when fresh.

Bleu > À point, objectively.
But no worries, at these kinds of restaurant you can just ask the chef to completely ruin and overcook your steak if you really want to, the customer is always right after all.
