I'm making a ginger bug right now, but does this actually make Ginger beer alcoholic? Previous times I made Ginger beer I used yeast in the vessel, but I thought I try something new. Now I'm wondering it is actually going to do anything. I actually bought another vessel, and will use yeast in it like I've done before and see what happens.

It can end up fermenting a bit if you feed it enough sugar. The "maximum" ABV will depend on how strong your ginger bug is though. It most likely won't go any further than 2-3%.
