>>21983370>What is that convenient for? Eating disgusting meals?
>>21983364I still don't get why people keep pretending that there is something bad about this. It's a cooked chicken in a can. It sits in that brine for weeks to months. All this means is that it will be buttery soft. Which could be very nice. And OH SURPRISE, when they open it it is a whole chicken in a fatty broth, and when they let it slide out if falls apart.NONE of this is surprising or even the least bit disgusting. It looks exactly like you'd expect a whole chicken that was sitting in a liquid for months to look. You got it out, now COOK it and it will probably be pretty good, so soft that it will fall apart by just looking at it strongly. Of COURSE it looks slimy and squishy with the congealed fat as long as it is not COOKED, no reason to be all like :OGod I hate these fags so much.
Sweet Sue quietly discontinued their whole canned chicken. They still sell canned chicken meat in many forms, but the entire chicken is no longer available. When I was a child in the late 80s, we once ended up with a Sweet Sue whole canned chicken from a charity food pantry. It appearance was as vile as OP shows but it did brown up nicely.
>>21983364it tastes perfectly fine, get over yourself.
>>21983432>It looks exactly like you'd expect a whole chicken that was sitting in a liquid for months to look.most people have never seen this and never want to see this, and this has never even been possible for most of human history. i dont think it's that strange at all that people might find it somewhat repulsive.
>>21983376that's a homo
>>21983862not that anon but,it has existed in a different form, aspic. And if you've made stock before, you'd know that it would congeal into a jelly after being cooled.
>>21983867again, most people in 2026 would not find this to look appetizing. even in the time when those kinds of dishes were more "normal", i dont think they were exactly commonplace in home kitchens or universally loved by the people they were served to.case in point, i worked at a deli that sold head cheese. nobody wanted head cheese, young or old. there was literally one guy who would ask for it, and irregularly. I'm not saying this stuff is gross, I'm just saying it's not hard to see why people dont want it.
>>21983432I agree that in essence there shouldn't be anything bad about a canned chicken the problem is simply WHY WOULD YOU WANT A WHOLE CANNED CHICKEN? I believe even someone into survival/military would find more practical to carry smaller, more nutritionally dense canned foods than hauling a whole ass chicken in a can.
>>21983364obligatory
>>21983432So, let me play devil's advocate here... why would you put in any additional work to cook something that's already been canned? That means it's shelf stable. For me, the concept of eating it right out of the can is appealing, and just planning for survival. God Bless.
>>21983364Canned chicken has been around for over 100 years
>>21983864considering where he was when he passed away yes, very much so
>>21983905Passable chicken quality if someone wants to make a roast or other dish requiring a whole chicken while away fron refrigeration.

>>21983364>Homestyle GoodnessI have trouble believing that.
>>21983907I was waiting for this. It is my closest experience with canned whole chicken.
>>21983364That reminds me of how some babies are born with the amiotic sac.
>>21984307If you pour out that gelatinous paste and rinse off the chicken a bit I think it could be okay once decently roasted
>>21986122you don't even have to rinse it. canned chicken is perfectly fine.
>>21983364>conveniencefood preservation started back before world wide commercial farming, refrigeration, and computer could set up a system of on time fresh food delivery. Being able to walk into a store and get fresh food year round is a bigger convenience.
