Tomatoes add a refreshing contrast to the greasy/saltiness of the burger. The problen is some people fail at topping order.Lettuce creates a barrier. Then the tomato goes on. Then a slice of onion to keep the tomato from soiling the bun.

For the best tomatoes on burgers while cooking at home, i usually halve the tomatoes and scoop out the seeds and slimy bits with a spoon.Then you get the best part of the tomato and none of the wetness.Also do this for bruscetta.
