My library card gets me 801 free food and wine magazines!
I've spent the last 2 hours going through just some of them and screenshotting recipes
There was a time I actually had to PAY for such magazines
What a time to be alive

cooks illustrated is great. they will have pages of illustrated techniques, or discussing the variations between different ingredients or kitchen tools, etc. it will have about a full page before the recipe discussing what techniques you're using and the "theory" behind the recipe, like how you build the flavors, etc. it's a great resource for actually improving your skill, not just following recipes.

Is this zoomer slang?

Why would I need any of this when I can just ask gemini or chatgpt how to cook something?
