I always thought takoyaki was a meme food but holy shit, the smoky bonito flakes and the kewpie mayo make it a knockout for my taste buds.Do you like takoyaki?
I love biting into it and getting a molten hot load of batter with a fishy aftertaste.
>>21989165It is a meme food. I don't think you know what a meme is. And no I'm not talking about the stuffy academic definition.
It's pretty good, yeah. It's good that it exists.
>>21989180>I'm gay I love dick I interpreted your post without using the stuffy academic definition of the words you used
>>21989180It's also very good. Memes can be of good quality>>21989165First time I tried it I got confused because of the batter but it's part of what takoyaki is. I thought it would just be fried octopus. But it wasn't and I was pleasantly surprised
Kids love it, which proves that it's good and not just a meme.
>>21989241>Memes can be of good qualityYeah that's what I mean.OP is suggesting that meme food can't be good
>>21989165Wait and try some authentic okonomiyaki
>>21989180It isnt a meme food, I loved it
>>21989180>it's a meme food because... b-because it's from Japan!silence gaijin
>>21989180I don't think you know that one word can have more than one meaning depending on the context it's used in.
>>21989262nta, I did, at a cozy little spot in Osaka, but I still prefer takoyaki. both are somewhat similar and very tasty, of course.
>>21989320BAKABA〜KA
>>21989262>>21989365I had some in Hiroshima and when I told the chef I was from America he asked me if I liked Trump and then showed me his bobblehead figurine of himI also kept slipping up and saying I was from the East Staircase of America instead of the East Coast.
>>21989165the real stuff isnt bad but its gotten so popular where i live that everyone has started using frozen takoyaki that tastes like dogshit mixed with glue
>>21989343In this case the context is you're gay
>>21989165>Do you like takoyaki?Lived in Japan for 12 years and cant fucking stand Takoyaki. Its great if you dont add seaweed, bonito flakes or the octopus. Never understood why Japs went out of their way to add a bunch of shit ingredients to something that tastes better with bacon or chicken or curry sauce or anything else in em. Hell, pancake mix and maple syrup makes better takoyaki than takoyaki does.
You know what needs to get big in America next? Okonomiyaki. Takoyaki is great, but okonomiyaki is better and I can't find it anywhere around me.
>>21989903bait used to be more subtle
>>21989903Some people just really like fish flavor.Your "versions" sound awful to me, fuck chicken and bacon is good when crispy. So it wouldn't exactly work for me in batter ball form either. I bet they'd make good street food still though, I'd at least try a bacon or curry flavor.
>>21989910do you really want this? you know it will become popular from social media and all the okonomiyaki places will be swarming with normalfags taking pictures of the food. there will probably be a giant flat top skillet replica and a giant okonomiyaki spatula you can pose as okonomiyaki on for your feed. there will be influencer chefs dropping okonomiyaki from 12 feet in the air and spinning the sauces around them like anime ninjutsu.just make it at home, in silence and contentment.
There's a Museum of Takoyaki in Odaiba. It's a misnomer since it's really just a takoyaki food court, but still they have a variety of pretty good takoyaki there.
Yeah, it's great but I stopped eating Octobros.
>>21989915He can make it at home in silence and contentment regardless of its popularity in the states. If it gets popular then he will be able to purchase it made for him at a variety of places, but you're right he would have to deal with the horrors of... other people taking pictures of their food? God what an ordeal jesus christ help us all.
>>21989954>purchase it made for him at a variety of placesimagine being such a cooklet you cant make a cabbage pancake
>>21989948Is it because they’re smart?
>>21989964Yeah, they're based and cute.
THINGJAPAN8(___________)
>>21989165its good with literally anything other than chewy rubber octopus inside
>>21989910I'm not sure it as meme-able as takoyaki. Mainly because it's too similar to other foods like hash browns and fritters in other countries. Perhaps a specific type of okonomiyaki or a unique way of shaping it or serving it could make it a viral food. You know if they made one you could eat with one hand on the street or similar.Okonomiyaki rolls or something
>>21989165Had it once, pure kino. It's just octopus pancake balls when you think about it. The sauce they used where I went tasted kinda like bbq sauce.
