I havent bought rum for nearly 6 years. I've never had an agricole or high ester rum. too much added sugar in the cheap shit and not enough regulations to justify higher end bottles.

Got gifted a bottle of Bumbu. Never had it before but there seems to be a lot of fighting about it online because it's only 35% and therefore not legally rum. Might try to make some tiki drinks with it.

Try it by itself before you waste other ingredients attempting to salvage it. That shit is sickeningly sweet, and I say that as someone who does a lot of at home tiki and has something of a sweet tooth himself. There are so many better rums you can get for the price of or less than a bottle of Bumbu.

Appleton Signature Blend is a mixer, too young and a low ester count. The Appleton bottles with an age statement are better, and I would recommend you their Wray and Nephew overproof rum for a high ester rum.

Jamaican rum has basically the same regulations as scotch. Some distillers from Barbados made some similar efforts for their stuff.
