If it happens once or twice its not a big deal. But beer can get skunky if its repeatedly heat cycled or gets too warm in general. Like if you left a 12 pack in your truck in the summer and they didn't burst, its likely they're ruined from the heat. Most people don't let beer get to 90 degrees, but it could happen on a hot summer day.
