Why didn't these take off in America and how come Brits don't get as much flak for it compared to America?
>>
I don't really know
>>
>>21999539
believe it or not but americans actually have a higher standard for their slop
>>
>>21999586
>americans actually have a higher standard for their slop
They actually don't.

it was invented in Northern England/Scotland, it's not supposed to be gourmet, it's just a mish-mash of stuff for lads after a night out or watching football.

They will take off in America at some point but as usual - another country invented it, so it takes a bit of time for Americans to adopt it and edit wikipedia to say that it was invented in the USA.

Who really cares what americans think anyway?
>>
>>21999539
Americans have appetizer samplers available from a lot of places which is similar, just not in such big sizes.
>>

Different kind of brown people makes them

I love how you wall of text seethe in every thread that mentions Britain lmao
>>
>>21999627
God bless the USA, we invented hamburgers, good pizza and ditched the old angloshit for real food.
>>
>>21999539
Too big to shove into a bag and eat it while driving
>>
>>21999627
It's just a cardboard box of fried crap. Even taco bell is better.
>>
>>21999539
Based on what I can identify, i see fries, onion rings, egg rolls, rice and noodles for some reason, and sauced chicken nuggets?

The fuck are you supposed to do with that? Wheres the cheese? Where is the meat? where is the spice and flavor? We can basically order this alacart in most restaurants or any other place that does togo boxes.

Take a very standard Chilis for example, I could order (to go) cheese sticks, potato skins, chicken tenders, a couple burgers, onion rings and fries, salad, and whatever the fuck else is on the menu.

The real question is why does europe think a pizza box of basic fried shit is something Americans would even want?
>>
>>21999539
I'm not American but I've seen videos of US food 'influencers' eating munchie boxes, so I'm pretty sure they exist somewhere over there.
>>
>>21999627

first guy is kinda right. Muricans have a high standard because theyve been shoving beef and pecan pies into their lardasses for years. Only brits would willingly eat 70% shit tier french fry boxes.
>>
>>21999539
That's just a box of side dishes in America, you need a main course. Nobody actually wants five pounds of fries without a burger.
>>
>>21999539
It’s like the Cheerleader Effect but for food… at first glance it looks great but then as you examine each item individually it’s just a whole bunch of meh
>>
>>21999539
One of my local pizza places has one called fryer explosion, but its just the fried foods and no like extra real food in it. So its got fries, onion rings, mozzerella sticks, jalapeno poppers, potato skins. But the real menu has appetizers that you might actually want to try like fried pickles, falafel, steak and cheese egg rolls, buffalo chicken eggrolls, mac n cheese bites - none of thats in there, and they are all like $15 or $18 and not very much food.

The chinese place has chefs appetizers which gives you a little variety but never enough of what you actually want or a good price so you end up just ordering crab rangoon anyways and a $4 egg roll.

I dont think they'll ever give us a good variety for a fair price because some people are willing to get the semi variety stuff and then pay for a full order of those special things they desire.
>>
>>21999539
its a bunch of frozen food dumped into a deep fryer and air fryer.
>>
>>21999586
This is it
Getting 5 pounds worth of the shittiest frozen garbage from the supermarket in a pizza box just sounds ghetto, in fact not even blacks would go for this.

Britain sucks at fast food
Look at this shit

Americans already do that, whatever you call it, with frozen food. No restaurant necessary.

Who the fuck told you that? Everybody I know who has seen one of these monstrosities thinks they're an abomination
>>22000100
There's actually nothing in there that is really that bad on its own, it's just the fact that there's so much of it (and there's no sauce) that makes it a culinary travesty
The worst individual thing would have to be the beef croquettes on the right
>>
>>22000174
It really is the lack of sauce that makes it so off putting.

How can you make fried food so desaturated? was it a cloudy day? Does the contrast with that soda popper make it look worse in comparison?

They're hopelessly obsessed, so much of their media, news, and celebrities are US-based, so the US is constantly on their mind. On the other hand, there is basically 0 bong news or media in the US so it isn't on the mind of the average american, where as the brits can't say the same.

Congrats, you've successfully evaded your ban!
>>
>>22000302
Not even a ban but that bullshit ip range thing. Goddamn jannies i hate them so much
>>
>>21999539
honestly surprised why it isn't a thing in America, I mean, a big box of deep fried slop? I suppose the wide variety of fast food choices probably already fills that craving for the average mutt.

that's my same thought with poutine. i think if cheese curds were more common across the US, then poutine would be everywhere. it's literallyt fries, gravy, and cheese. it's as american as it gets. i grew up in wisconsin and had cheese curds very readily available but they were almost always served either just "raw" or battered and fried, I never saw poutine. now i live somewhere close to the us-ca border and i see it slightly more but it's insane that every KFC across the country doesn't serve poutine. they're one of the places that has gravy and fries 100% of the time, just carry cheese curds ffs.

Detroiter here, and it's bizarre that poutine isn't available in every coney joint in the state.

It's because poutine actually sucks balls. The french fries and really good mozzarella makes it, but the gravy is extremely off-putting and highlights a lack of meat.

It doesn't, it's tasty. I've had it twice here in metro Detroit, years back at Falling Down Brewery (now closed) with pulled pork and lately at Metro Bar & Grill (normal poutine).
>>
>>22000486
If you're actually in Detroit, going to coney island, and NOT getting/preferring chili cheese fries to poutine, you're a fake ass buster who should scoot on back across the Mackinac bridge to cacuckland.
