I’m going to start shopping in bulk, which one is better for food?
>>22001561Get a chest freezerGo to a butcherBuy a quarter cow
>>22001566Did I say I just wanted meat?
>>22001561Costco mogs Sam's Club.
Costco. this is basic knowledge anon.
Costco is better if you like trying new things and are okay with not having big brand names.Sam's Club is better if you are specifically looking for bulk brand name stuff.
>>22001561Which is closest? My extended family has memberships to both. Costco is more upper middle class, has more upscale items and a better selection of premade food and veggies, also better quality meat. Sams is more lower middle class, basically a large Walmart with deeper discounts.
>>22001566only worth it if you have a family. otherwise you're never finishing all that alone in 3 months which is when beef generally starts to get freezer burn.
But what about...
>>22001561You don't save any money on the "bulk" at these places compared to Walmart. Depending on what city you live in, Costco is nothing but an infestation of jeets and chinks. The membership fee is just to let you shop away from niggers and trailer trash
>>22001561I think both stores will let you inside to look around (not purchase anything) if you say you're considering a membership. Costco generally has the better reputation and is indeed an OK place for>meat, fish, dairy, eggs>cheese (if you like their limited selection), >some (not all) deli items, frozen stuff, dry goods, snacks>fresh bakery items>liquorProduce is hit or miss. (So is their selection of small appliances, by the way, although they have what appear to be good sales on Kitchenaid stand mixers. Be prepared to use the liberal return policy when shit breaks.)The Costco food court is a shadow of it's former self. And don't believe people who blame COVID, they already started killing the classic menu before lockdowns, and it aint coming back. (If you like plain hot dogs, go for it though.)Also be advised, depending on your area, Costco may be more "diverse" than you expect. If your only other option is Walmart, then yes, the $65 membership fee keeps most overt crackheads away, but beyond that you could be dealing with a lot of people who hate America. It's not a country club.
>>22001633>You don't save any moneyCostco is not the dollar store. Their goal is not absolute lowest prices, but "value", quality for money. Whether they achieve that is debatable.
>>22001606>Deep freezer>Freezer burnFreezer burn is a result of the defrost cycle which doesn't happen on deep freezers, if you're buying a quarter cow you've definitely got a deep freezer and not one of those little tiny chest freezers they sell at shartmart.
>>22001653To be fair I did say CHEST freezer, but yeah I meant the big deep freezers.
>>22001561Neither. Go to Walmart, Aldi or watch deals online.
>>22001561This might sound weird, but what race are you? Because since 2012, Costco has a Reparations program that waives the membership fee for new Black members. They aren't legally allowed to advertise it, but ask at customer service when you sign up. (And no, they don't care if you're African-American, you could be African, just as long as you can pass as Black.) You're also entitled to one free hot dog per week.
>>22001649if you're just shopping grocery necessities, meats, dairy, produce, grains, you're 100% saving money over a normal grocery store unless your household barely eats
>>22001683Costco makes more from their sales than membership anyways. The membership was to make it look premium and keep the retard plebs away but now only the plebs use costco. Though i guess membership is how they keep the hotdogs cheap.
Kirkland mogs Walmart's brands and it's not even close so Costco wins on that alone.
>>22001683I don't believe you
>>22001561sams is for poor people>go to sams>almost all nonwhites>go to costco>almost everyone white and asian
>>22001566Im in az. Every beef farm in this state is double the cost of the grocery store. It's fucking gay. I eat more pig than I want. I feed 4 adults and 3 kids.
>>22003400I couldn't imagine living in a desert hellscape like AZt. Appalachad
>>22001606If it's packaged air-tight it won't get freezer burn. I had some two year old steaks the other day and they were just fine because they were vacuum sealed.
>>22001561Look for non-member restaurant supply stores like US Foods Chef'stores if you're after meats and frozen/dry goods. Costco has better prepared foods like the food court and bakery and keep an eye on the specials.
>>22001566buying beef in bulk from a butcher sadly isn't cheap anymore. the last half cow I bought will be the final one, at least in this area.
>>22001561Never been to sams club. Costco rules for the 1.50 hot dog, the sundae and samples. Costco is decently priced for food and household goods. It is also great place to get a mid level PC, Laptop and appliances.I missed the good old days where the first thing you see when you enter Costco on your right was a table full of those big box PC games. Also the books are gone from my Costco.BRING BACK THE COSTCO CHURRO!
>>22001633>away from trailer trashHence, it is worth every penny.
