I'm new to cooking fish. What's an easy non-salmon fish dish that I can try?
>>
>>22002201
Tuna steaks
>>
If they're cleaned for you already, they're all easy. The difficulty in fish is the prep work.
>>
>>22002206
whut? just descale, chop head of, open up the belly and scoop the guts out
>>
>>22002201
Fish tacos are pretty forgiving and fish is pretty easy. If its flakey its done, if its shrinking pull it
>>
>>22002213
Yeah? What about monkfish? I made the cheapskate error of not having it changed for me last month just to save a measly dollar per pound because I'm originally from a country where cleaning your own fish is perfectly fucking normal and I've never had problems cleaning any myself before. But the monkfish? That shit has slippery yet still hard-rubbery skin. Took me ages to carefully prep that ugly motherfucker.
So I meant "cleaned" more in a manner that Americans are used to. They don't really eat fish much here, especially not whole, and they want everything steaked, sticked or filleted. Filleting takes a little more skill and effort than someone whose new to fish might be comfortable with. That's what I was getting at.

well soooorrry for offending you, mr. fancypants with your fancy fucking fish
>>
Why non salmon?
>>
Sea bass

Lightly dusted with breadcrumbs, pan fry them and serve with lemon butter sauce

>easy
not quick though
>sardines
>ideally you ask the woman that sells the fish to slice them in half for you, they need to remove what's inside and so on
>now you marinate them for 6-24 h in vinegar, garlic and oregano
>coat them in flour
>deep fry them
that's it, shit's really good

swordfish, halibut, cod, haddock, tilapia.
and don't listen to retards that try and tell you tilapia is a garbage fish that was created in fish farms, it's been around since ancient egypt as evidenced in heiroglyphs.

>fancy
Nigga, that shit was $2.99/lb lol
>>
>>22002213
>descale
you lost me
>chop head off
I get told I'm doing it wrong
>open up the belly and scoop the guts out
food poisoning because I missed something or sliced open something I shouldn't have in 10. 9. 8.
>no mention of de-boning/grating
I mean sure not all fish need it.

nah thanks I'll stick to pre-cleaned.

>what the others are saying
yeah ask the lady selling the fish to prepare it for you, no point otherwise
>>

Nobu's miso black cod. Delicious and very easy. You can find recipe online
>>
Flounder or tilapia fillets. You just put a little oil on the baking sheet, season the fish (I use cumin, chili powder, a little onion powder, a little garlic powder, salt and pepper) and then you put bread crumbs on top. Finally you thinly slice butter and put it on top so the bread crumbs get crispy.

It's "easy" but you do have to be quite precise about everything or it comes out an absolute train wreck and rather unappetizing. There are far easier and more foolproof starter fish recipes.

Chinese steamed fish
>>
>>22002228
tastes gross

>Skill issue
Try marinating in some kind of slightly sweet chili sauce or teriyaki or citrus or heavy herbs.
Baking is safest way to not fuck it up, I prefer skillet.
Serve with freshly melted tbsp of butter on top, regardless of style.
>>
>>22002201
prep some sea bream, throw it on the grill
>>
For me its Lake Trout. You all have heard.
>>
>>22002449
no, anon.
the other anon is correct.
salmon is the great filter of people that will allow rancid smelling pussy.
>>
>>22002201
You can make fishsticks in the microwave if you cant use the oven
>>
>>22002337
Steamed fish is good, but timing is essential. I over cooked some sea bream, it wasn’t good.
>>
>>22002784
Youre disregarding the most nutritious thing in the supermarket because its super fatty and tastes kinda yicky ? Grow up
>>
Going to make moqueca with tilapia. Seems easy and looks good.

Salmone tastes v. Good though

They just need to get better Quality Salmone
>>

Mmm, I love fish but I'll often just have it with a side of vegetables because I love the taste by itself so much. You could try a fisherman's omelette? (very beginner friendly) Fish and chips is pretty cool because it teaches you breading and cod is pretty cheap.
I also second the anon that said fish tacos x1000
