The /ck/ hack is using frozen bananas instead of heavy cream as a base, then add milk or half & half or yogurt (technically unnecessary but makes it closer to ice cream fatty creaminess and dairy taste), and then some other fruit or flavors if you want.Heavy cream is the most expensive aspect.Frozen bananas helps with texture (milk or half and half alone is very icy) and bulk mass, while also providing healthy sugar because of the nutrition matrix of the banana.

Every emulsifier, thickener, etc, messes with the flavor, so they have to artificially boost it. I just smash frozen fruit with a hammer, add a third of the volume milk, and shake vigorously. Two ingredients, perfect flavor. I guess you can add sugar if you're a toddler. Try mango or pineapple, they work best.
