They are dropping in price pretty significantly right now, which shows them trying to get rid of the last of thw good stock. After that, they will shoot right back up and taste far worse.Anyway, the reason yours tasted awful is probably because they were out of season. I know exactly what you describe, and have had some that taste like candy, and some that taste like I am chewing just those white stringy bits between the rind and the fruit. Also, the smell from their blossoms is amazing in the morning on a Sunday drive. Really one of the only good things about living in this absolutely garbage state is the fresh fruit.
