Looks nice anon! Did you know learning to cook from an early age is one of the highest predictors of life success and satisfaction? the first actual recipe I cooked after moving in to my first apartment was a shrimp tagliatelle with an Amaretto sauce. Anyways, to guide you in the right direction on your cooking journey, if you're not sure what channels to pick for recipes Food Wishes is one of my personal favorites. Also other anons share the first dishes you made!

I think i did a carbonara but I was already proficient at cooking since I lived with my dad during Uni

Are these zucchini? This post is like a dream memory of mine. When I was in elementary school, our teacher randomly had a culinary day and we made breaded and fried zucchini as a class. We did very little of it as the kids but the teachers were showing us individually how to do it, and then they fried them off in a shallow pan with a bit of oil. They were SUPER delicious.
Ended up being the very first thing I tried to cook when I got a bit older, though I've never made them that way in probably 20 years now.
I saute them in a pan with butter/olive oil and a bit of salt and pepper, and cut them to various widths, so that some are softer than others, because zucchini has a nice graduation of tastes when it goes from adequately cooked to slightly overdone (i actually even like the mushy ones, for example)
How do u make em now btw?

My first independently made meal was a “Friendsgiving” in high school while my friends parents were out of town. We made Cornish hens, steaks, bacon wrapped something, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, and i think that’s it.
I was planning to go to culinary school at that point so it was a real fun time.
>adult meal
It was so nonchalant for me to cook at that point i have no idea what i made
>>
>>22004026
Btw would
Would also saute longer because my personal preference is for more browning

Corned beef. Cooked in brown sugar, brown vinegar, water, and cloves with a dill bechamel sauce, mashed potatoes and steamed peas because it was my favourite meal as a kid.

I slapped together spaghetti and other shit beforehand but that was the first meal I really COOKED. When it stopped being just a way to feed myself but something I enjoyed.

It looks great but it's not the most photogenic dish. I'm sure I would like to have some what did you make anon?
>>
>>22004060
first thing you made on your own required you to buy a bottle of almond liqueur?
my first dish was roast potatoes seasoned with salt, oil and msg. simple enough but in retrospect idk how i even knew how to cut potatoes. i was probably on the phone with my mum and was asking questions like "okay i cut it in half lengthwise and then i put the half flat side down and then cut into slices like it's a loaf of bread?"
>>
>>22004026
that was decades ago.
>>22004297
>implying cooking is work
the heat does the work, you just kind of stir it a bit.
>>
>>22005107
looks bad but probably tastes good
it's a home meal, not a restaurant meal
>>
>>22005109
It was supposed to be Japanese curry.
>>
>>22005111
Mmm, my mom used to have a bottle of Disaronno for cooking (which she used like once a year maybe) and It used to be my favorite liquor when I was younger so I would have a few sips from it every now and then. I guess moving in to my first apartment I probably figured I'd get some to celebrate moving in and then I probably googled dishes to make with it. Dishes with some kind of liquor sauce usually sound more complex than they actually are, especially Italian ones.

Never had Japanese curry myself but it looks nice.

That's a chicken breast. Are you sure you know how to cook?
>>
>>22005413
did you ever learn how to post pictures in the correct orientation?
>>
>>22004026
I don't know. I cooked for my alcoholic dad when I was 12. Stir fries and spaghetti is what we ate mostly.
>>
>>22005786
I hope things are much better for you now, and if not quite yet then improving soon

>>22005413
What is the green on the salmon?

>>22004879
I had a great time larping as head chef. Not a stereotypical asshole head chef, just meal planning and delegating where it made sense. My bro who grills was in charge of the steaks, my high friends mashed the taters and grated the cheese.
We did a few more before everyone started getting lives out of our hometown
>>

>What is the green on the salmon?
Wasabi (green horseradish)
