Cut off the top and tail. Cut in half. Slice thin but don't dice. The hemispheres of onion will separate into strands on their own, no need to try and slice them into cuboids that burn very easily

yeah thats what i do. the root acts to hold the onion together as you cut. its useful for when you dont need it cut to a certain shape. this >>22008887 is for when you need it in a more regular format.
