What are your feelings on fried mushrooms?
>>22008587Highly dependent on the way they are made. They can be delicious and crunchy with a tender inside...or crappy with breading falling off and slimy inside. When they are good, they are awesome.
>>22008587I feel like they could be really tasty. I want to try them. Where can I get them?
>>22008587I feel like they'd be better with the mushrooms cut in half first.
>>22008611Many places do this, and they are better a lot of times because the inside of the mushroom gets battered/breaded and cooked through
Gross. Because 90% of the time you see them on a menu they're frozen from a factory. I might like them if they were freshly made, but what are the chances? Just say no.
>>22008587Local pizza place has these, breddy gud
>>22008627Reheating is also the skill of a chef and should not be downplayed
>>22008624Yeah, when they're kept whole they just blort out liquid when you bite into them, like a giant cyst
>>22008587Never had them. Can you get stuffed and fried? I could do a bucket of those
Button mushrooms: must be eaten immediately if not prepped a particular way (bakwan jamur). Oyster mushrooms: stays crunchy and delicious. >>22008690Have before. It's not so great, actually.
>>22008587They had them at Quaker State & Lube. Not sure if they still do.
>>22008587Those things are fucking good. A-Tier next to fried pickles. Goes great with a nice steak.
>>22008683Is it weird I like them this way?
>>22008789No, it's just a surprise when you bite into one not expecting it. I can see liking the hot mushroom juice if you know it's coming. Sorry if this was too lude.
>>22008587They're great.
>>22008798Not the same thing, those aren't breaded and fried
>>22008800Is mushroom Is friedIs fried mushroom
>>22008801Those are sauteed, not deep fried
realistically I'm just going to chop and pan fry them, then cook them in a batter and deep fry that. Trying to handle a food that will burp up 80% of its mass as water with deep frying is not for me. might as well bread and deep fry a cube of gelatin.
>>22008587Haven't had them in awhile
>>22008803Your mastery of identifying the obvious is unrivalled.
>>22008801Did you see OPs pickerel? He's talking about breaded or battered deep fried mushrooms. He isn't talking about pan fried or sauteed mushrooms.
>>22008683>blort
>>22008801OP is a ding dong. He meant deep fried not just fried, like in a pan. Derp
>>22008647This is true. I buy shitty gas station mozzarella sticks regularly and I can tell when certain people are working the kitchen based on the texture. I actually worked there for a while (not kitchen) and the more experienced workers knew what defrosting/oven/fryer settings made the frozen slop way better than standard company policy.
>>22008589This is my experience. I wish there was a consistent way to make them tender and juicy without being slimy.I love onion rings so I don't know what the difference is.
>>22008587breadcrumbs are terrible on mushrooms, onions, and pickles. those should be dunked in a batter if they're properly drained and dried, mushrooms beat onion rings
Love em but they give me the kinda shits that I need a toilet brush to clean of the sides.
>>22008587those always burn my mouth :[
>>22009805
>>22009805PROTIP: Only eat them when they have cooled down.
>>22008587mushrooms are not very good most of the timeI'd much rather have friend onions or something
>>22009675mushrooms just have huge amounts of water in them that heat draws out of them. so unlike most user friendly bread and deep fry stuff you have big problems with both cooking them through and keeping the water inside
>making fried mushrooms>batter sticks together>bunch of the mushrooms clump up into blobs>try to separate them one by one>fingers covered in cemented batter>try to drop them into the oil>batter slides off the mushroom>oil splashes up onto my fingersyea I'm thinking they're the worst food to cook at home
>>22010747Batter was too thick, oil not hot enough
